1994 was the "Year of the Angry Voter." What is 2006?
The year of the Beyond Angry Voter. The year of the More Sorrowful than Angry Voter.

The other day I was half-listening to some commentary, probably on C-SPAN, when someone made that comparison, stating off-handedly and matter of factly that voters this year don't seem to be as angry as they were 12 years ago. That, ironically enough, pissed me off. I mean, haven't I been in a permanent state of simmering rage since Election Night 2000? And I know I'm not the only one. And you think THOSE dumb tax-fearing ditto-head robot-assholes in 1994 were angry?! Angry about what!?

But the more I think about it, the more I sort of see what they mean. Voters seem to be in the same sort of mood now that they were in the year of impeachment--at least, that's the feeling I get when I look at the polls that keep slapping Republicans and the media idiots in the face. I get the feeling that what's driving the electorate is not the moronic blind rage over what those entitled Demoncrat politicoes have done to Reagan's America that Limbaugh whips his doltish worshippers into. It feels like more of a determined, steady momentum toward pulling the rug out from under the lunatics who've taken over the asylum. And wrapping them up in the carpet. And setting them on the curb. Just getting rid of bad rubbish because it just has to be done.

Of course, I may be proven wrong. Diebold and redistricting may prove me wrong. Voters may even prove me wrong.

But here's hoping I'm right.

7. There was an article I saw this morning about this...
Here it is:
http://us.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/11/motivated.voters.ap/index.html

It even quotes a guy who questions the veracity of the last 2 presidential elections; the gist is that Dems are pissed off and "voter interest" is high.

But a word of caution: that doesn't always mean higher turnout. It should, but it might not. We still have to work as hard as we can to get people to the polls next month.

My current state of mind is expressed in my sig pic. I'm a pacifist but the longer this shit drags on the more pissed off I get.

8. Actually, '94 was supposed to be the year of the "Angry White Male"
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 12:54 PM by impeachdubya
Which never made sense to me, since I'm white, and male, and I wasn't terribly angry that year.

I do remember hearing some idiot listening to Rush Limbaugh around that time, going "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah!", and thinking.. holy shit- what is wrong with these people?

11. The year of the Second Revolution
and/or second civil war.

Forget the terrorists, worry about the so called Christian Right. They are pissed, and highly motivated to direct action.

I think Terry McViegh will be stripped of his domestic terrorist title. Asymettrical civil war will erupt.

If the Dems win or even the Pugs now, the army of god attacks the 'godless gays in DC.' If the Pugs win, it will be as the result of an ongoing criminal enterprise, and the second revolution is probably unstoppable at that point. The domestic detentions are already hitting legal residents deemed unwanted. Next it will be the opponents of Bush's war in Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan/NK/Syria.
