Why is it "indecency" to walk naked, if you are alone?

Sure, it's weird (forget that being naked is our natural state). But, jailtime?...

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) -- A city prosecutor was charged with indecency after a security camera caught him walking around naked in a government building after business hours.

Scott Blauvelt, 35, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of indecency. He was released from jail to await a hearing in the court where he usually works.

A guard monitoring a security camera spotted a nude man -- whom investigators identified as Blauvelt -- in a building that houses county offices the night of October 5, sheriff's Maj. Anthony Dwyer said. The night before, security video had captured Blauvelt naked in another area of the building, where city offices are located, Dwyer said.

Dwyer said investigators don't know why Blauvelt, who was alone, wasn't wearing clothes. He faces a month in jail and a $250 fine if convicted.

I don't care if someone walks around naked in a public building if someone else is not there, but I do care about the obscene proliferation of cameras that snoop on people everywhere.

The Secret Service leave those they protect alone even if they are getting a BJ in the oval office or screwing a porn web page master man to man in the Lincoln bedroom, or where-ever Bush did the nasty with Gannon, and this is fine as security of this nature needs to be blind to those things to keep those they protect from compromising the protector's ability to keep them safe.

So it should be in this case, he should have been left alone if he was not harming anyone. Nakedness by yourself in this building is in questionable taste, but making a federal case of this costing him his job is obscene.

So, before you kow it, picking your nose in a federal building will cost you your job.
And, BTW, have you ever noticed that you can see into most publis restrooms in the US? You know, those restrooms made of plastic walls with screws into the walls (the most common ones); there are sizable slits between the walls, and when you walk by you can see inside, whether you like it or not. So, is it indecent to be seen naked on a toilet in one of the publis restrooms? No wonder jesus cries all the time these days :)

late in my office's building and I'm alone, I'm glad the security guard in the lobby has those camera working. (And I've never had the urge to strip down and walk around the building, either.)

It is fine for you to not have the compulsion to scamp au natural in a vacant building.

I merely say that if goober on the camera station sees you do this, he should not say anything and forget he saw anything if it does not fall in the purview of protecting the building and what's inside from those unauthorized to be there.

"Just a heads up, but we can see you on the camera and it's recorded. What if there is an emergency and someone has to look over the tapes?"

Dancing around naked inside your house but in front of the picture window that faces the street would be considered indecent. Pull the curtains, and no one cares.

If the security cameras weren't on -- and there was no after-hours janitorial crew or other workers present -- and nobody would have known or cared. Ain't what happened....

That's why I am NEVER naked. Even in the shower I wear jeans.

I also never wash my junk either. That could lead to impure thoughts which kill baby angels.

if he saw him on a security camera or what. And maybe there may have been other people in the building such as cleaning people or even people working late who might have seen him. The question is why is he walking around naked anyway? maybe he should have just stayed in his office naked rather than walk around the building that way.

this naked man walking around?.. What if your wife went to work and stumbled upoon this man?... The guys got a problem and needs help.

As a woman who has often worked in large office buildings alone during off hours, I would not be the least bit amused if I happened across a naked man. I would find it rather threatening and think that most women would.

This is an interesting little tidbit left out of the OP:

"Blauvelt's lawyer, Michael Gmoser, said in a statement Tuesday that his client was seriously injured in a 2005 car accident, suffers from mental illness and is on medication for seizures."
