Why the Repugs will retain the House in '06...(Nothing to do with Diebold)
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 04:30 PM by Jackpine Radical
It's simple. The Dems are too disorganized & unable to frame a consistent attack message.

This is totally unlike the Republican Congressmen---who are all on the same page.

23. Actually, if it occurs, it will be due to different causes:
(1) the redistricting in Texas, as well as that done in the past in other states;
(2) restrictions on access to the ballot.

30. heard about the re-re-districting???
Its even worse.... they are now putting back candidates that lost the primary back on the ballot... making it very confusing.... My district has changed AGAIN... this means that everyone repukes and Dems need to refrain from pulling straight party tickets wihtout selecting each one....

I will tell all my friends to be careful and chose each and everyone. Even Lamar Smith (R) is nervous his voters will invalidate their votes for him....

it has many "series" accusations on it.

Even a few "guilty" pleas with jail sentences attached to their names...

:sarcasm:

In case this needs an edit note (LOL): I 'page' it.

But still made a point...

29. Strategy
It's all a matter of strategy. Dem's need to read the people--quit trying to pay for social programs with "other people's $$$$"--get rid of socialism and try supporting the working woman & man in her & his job. Knock off the class warfare. We are Americans--all of us. Just an opinion.

83. Excellent Idea!
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 12:01 AM by darkblue
Screw those old people on Medicare and Social Security! Damn leeches need to stop their class warfare on everyone else. Same with all those children who need food stamps. Evil parasites screwing over the working man and woman. Every well-to-do person in this country made it without any assistance whatsoever from any person or institution in society. Public education system: completely worthless to all of those noble self-made heroes! Everyone knows that employers never use anyone who was educated in a public school or used Financial Aid in college. There's no such thing as a lack of opportunities or hard luck! It's a liberal myth! We need to cut taxes on the wealthy entirely. We'll be closer to utopia than every before, unlike today's Stalinist Western European countries (not to forget that hell-hole of hell-holes, Canada), which we know are rife with exploding poverty and businesses never succeed. Why don't we ever get to see the extreme suffering those noble souls of self-made wealth endure in these countries? Imagine living without a second home for vacations or not being able to afford that third luxury vehicle because of evils like nationalized health care--which, of course, would never have any benefits for business owners (who prefer sickly employees and the burden of paying for increasingly expensive and decreasingly beneficial health care benefits)! We do not live in an interdependent society. There are no social benefits from any social programs. It's impossible for someone to produce anything of worth without the expectation of incredible wealth. Yes, once we embrace these ideas working men and women and their families will thrive like never before!

33. You know how Chimpy talks about his LONG WAR...well Dems or those
who "thought they were Dems" are in for the longer of the WARS.

Whether Dems win or not...the time is ripe for a counter to our own Dems if they FAIL AGAIN.

A new movement is building...and if we can't take our Dem Party Back then it's TIME (long past time) for us to build from the ground up for decades to create something better than Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Johnson gave us.

It's a string of disasters. We've gotta work for Dems for this MidTerm...but there's hell to pay after that for those of us who are looking for the "long term..Big Picture."

So, either way....it's going to be a Long, Long, Haul.....Rebuilding in a more equitable manner and joining with others who have been oppressed by the inequities in US foreign policy///Globalists who Manipulate for their own good and not for the GOOD OF THE PEOPLE they USE!!!!

Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 05:32 PM by Rex
The GOP has hit three political strikes - 911, Iraq and Katrina. Top that off with the multitude of other scandals - Abramoff, Foleygate, a lot of other _____gates, doctoring Intel reports, NK going nuclear, etc. The GOPers are in total disarray.

IMO, the only way they can win majority is cheat.

EDIT - dam you JR! I had to go back and read the OP a second time to 'get it'. Snarf!!!

53. Respectfully, I disagree, for two reasons.....
1) The idea that Democrats must have a united message isn't backed up by history. In the 1998 off year race Democrats made history by GAINING 5 seats in the 6th year of Clinton's presidency. That's unheard of, yet voters rebelled against an out of control Republican congress determined to destroy Bill Clinton's presidency. There was no unified party message. In 1986, the 6th year of the Reagan administration, Dems won 8 senate seats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_1986 and 5 seats in the house.

In 1974, what would have been the sixth year of Nixon had he not been forced to resign, Democratic wins were overwhelming, and there was no major attack message other than "Fuck Dick Nixon!" Apparently most Americans then agreed.

2) Yes, the Republicans have been joined at the hip for years, but now-when the results of their negligence is apparent-they are running for cover. I think you overestimate their cohesion.

Democrats are motivated, mad, and energized. Republicans are on the ropes. I've watched elections since 1968 and I know a wave when I see one. This is a wave election....

Point two....Okay, I did exactly what you said (well, I used a pipe  ) and I still don't see what I'm missing n the op. However, being 52 qnd living in the semi-rural south, its very easy to baffle me.

The real message to you is to relax....things will be okay come election day. This time, even Democrats can't screw it up (knock wood).

77. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.....My friend wore
a button that said that and it spoke to me. Anytime a button"speaks" to you, be WAYYYY concerned!

82. I once shared an office with a psychiatrist in a small outpatient clinic.
One day she asked me, "Are you seeing anyone in the office?" I responded, "Well, no, but sometimes I hear voices in there." She just looked at me funny. Psychiatrists have no sense of humor.

59. I'm concerned, but I think we will take the House.
RFK's great article in Rolling Stone along with millions of Americans KNOWING this time about Diebold have the Republicans nervous. I share your worries, but I think the House is ours.

And the subpoenas begin.

After reading it twice. Subtle, explaining why it flies over the head of most of the GD crowd.

64. On the same page? Does this have something to do with Foley?
Get real. The GOP are toast or, if you prefer, SOS.

72. Somebody described Foley's being "overly friendly" as similar to
when your neighbor's poodle gets "overly friendly" with your leg.

75. Your post is clever, but you're missing something.
The Republicans may be sniping at each other over the war, Foley and so on, but the luxury they have, as they do with every campaign, is much more funding than Democratic challengers. They can flood airwaves with negative adverts in the weeks shortly before an election and put the focus back on their opponent, even if national issues are causing problems for Republicans as a whole. This is why it is critically important, even with polls going our way, for our candidates to be aggressive and never cede the tempo of the elections to their opponents.

78. These are local races. It doesn't mean much what some guy
in DC says. It is fought out in the districts and precincts. The message from DC has very little to do with what is a concern in our county.

Anyway, the discipline of the Repubs has broken down, they are in disarray.

The Dems are spoiling for a fight, we are hungry and angry. All the Reps can do around here is steal our yard signs.
