That was from another copy and paste. My mouse has been messing up today. I think I need a battery change. The wonderful world of wireless devices!

4. Sorry, But That's Reality
When someone passes, his memorabilia Instantly goes up in value. Lots of reasons for this, but obviously any stuff like a rookie card is worth more, and becomes even more rare in theory than it was when he was alive.

Even I, when the late GREAT Chickie Hearn passed, went online to buy his bobblehead and an album of his game calls, just because I was a fan.

7. Writers, entertainers, and politicians spend their lives trying to
find ways of being remembered after they're gone. And when they leave, there are always a few jokers complaining about the demand for their memorabilia.

8. But they haven't even identified the body yet!
Isn't there some tiny period of time in which to be respectful? What if it was someone in your family?

11. How Is Buying Memorabilia Disrespectful?
I doubt his family is worried about his rookie card being bid higher on EBay.

It just will become harder to get anything with his name on it, and I don't think it necessarily insults his memory if people buy items bearing his name.

12. Just a note....
It appears that his card went up on eBay today and all the bids came within minutes of the news being reported today.

So, no, it's not out of line to buy memorabilia. But bidding on his card within minutes of his death smacks just a wee bit of ghoulish speculation. And I believe that this is what people are commenting on not general collecting of famous dead people's stuff.

People come in different stripes.

14. Not Sure If You're Being Sarcastic....
If not, there are at least a couple of albums which have highlights of some of his more famous calls from his career. I know, because I bought a couple of them shortly after his death.

15. no sarcasm whatsoever..
I'm one of Chicky Baby's biggest fans. I actually got him to sign my ticket stub after a Laker/Suns matchup back in '89, and I never, ever have asked anyone for an autograph. There was a group of people standing below his booth after the game and I thought what the heck. Mr. Hearn! Mr. Hearn! I called out as I waved my ticket in front of him. As he handed my ticket back I said "Thanks, Chicky!" He looked down, flashed that great smile of his and winked at me. It was a moment that I'll always cherish.
