Please read "Cobra II".

It's about the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
By a retired general and a NYT military reporter.
A bit of a slog, but worth it if you'd like to know what really happened.

1. The invasion:
Many unexpected, unforecast situations, but pretty much the kind of chaos you expect in a shooting war.
CIA intelligence sucked.
Our guys did pretty well with what they had to work with, which was not enough troops or armament, and a secretary of defense and joint chiefs that they pretty much disagreed with as to what was needed.

2. The occupation:
Total clusterf*ck. Unbelievable.

I'll be here to asnwer questions for a bit.
