omg that idiot infuriates me beyond belief. Did he read the study? FUCK NO! Here are the people and the methods used to "GUESS" at how many in Iraq have been killed since the ILLEGAL invasion and occupation of Iraq.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/11/iraq.deaths/index.html

<snip>

When pressed whether he stood by that figure Wednesday, he said, "I stand by the figure a lot of innocent people have lost their life. Six hundred thousand -- whatever they guessed at -- is just not credible."

Researchers randomly selected 1,849 households across Iraq and asked questions about births and deaths and migration for the study led by Gilbert Burnham of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.

They extrapolated the figures to reflect the national picture, saying Iraq's death rate had more than doubled since the invasion.

<snip>

Although the "proportion of deaths ascribed to coalition forces has diminished in 2006 ... the actual numbers have increased each year."

The authors said their method of sampling the population is a "standard tool of epidemiology and is used by the U.S. government and many other agencies."

Professionals familiar with such research told CNN that the survey's methodology is sound.

Information for the survey was collected by Iraqi doctors, and analysis was performed by the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in cooperation with the Center for International Studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Death certificates confirmed families' accounts in 92 percent of cases, the researchers said.

2. Those words were fed to him by Rove or some other writer....
It is the same thing all over again--if science proves you are wrong, then the science must be wrong. The exit polls can't be right because if they were right that would mean something is wrong with the voting procedures so the polling must be wrong. Et cetera.

6. Are Iraqi lives so worthless that they don't keep track at all?
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 06:02 PM by The_Casual_Observer
It's been long enough now that they could be keeping track. Jr was at a loss to offer up any kind of a number himself.

8. Gotta love Bush logic
The number sounds too high to him so he opts not to believe it. Nevermind it was researched, he just doesn't buy it. What an asshole.

10. And yet again bush makes ALL Americans look like the most ignorant hicks
on the planet.

Funny how the rest of the world has such hugely high regard for John Hopkins and MIT, (and of course the premier medical journal on the planet, The Lancet, which unlike the first 2, are not American, but British)...and along comes the ignorant hick, opens his ignorant mouth, and makes us all look like total morans.

Embarrassing.

I forget his name now, saying that some hippie journal called Nature isn't really a good authority on climate science....

It was something like that-I think it was in relation to the hurricane report-it was clear that the guy (who is on tv) has NO idea what "Nature" is, but assumes from the name, that rather than being one of the most respected journals in the Natural Sciences, it is some "hippie magazine" :eyes:.

These people have NO respect for science...Its incredible to me that people on that side of the aisle still try to pass themselves off as pragmatic, logical etc. and try to paint US as the unrealistic dreamers or whatever :eyes:

15. beyond embarrassing, I am mortified!
Not to mention, John Zogby of all people gave this study the highest accolades of credibility. He said the methodology was the same as he used, he knew many of the folks involved here and in Iraq and vouched for them and he said the 1800 sampled was far more than most other samples!

I did not watch the little killer dictator today because I can no longer stand the lies. I happened upon this comment and about lost it! :grr:
