Why aren't Clinton and Gore doing more campaigning for dems?
I know there are obvious reasons: they're busy promoting their own agendas, but I haven't seen them doing much on the stump for anybody.

Am I missing it?

Are the media ignoring them?

Or are they just staying away from the campaign trail?

Wouldn't their appearance in key races help get out the vote?

1. President Gore is busy campaigning on the climate crisis
Needless to say, I'd rather he be doing that than focusing on one country's election

3. that's the agenda I mentioned in the OP. if we have two more
years of environmental degradation at the hands of the fascists, who knows if it won't be too late.

and by then environmentalists will probably be decalred enemy combatants

2. Bill Clinton has done fundraising dinners for Democratic candidates...
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 06:16 PM by Eric J in MN
...this year. I went to one in Minnesota for the US Senate campaign of Amy Klobuchar.

Atrios of Pennsylvania writes today:

Bubba Mania

Spent the afternoon waiting for, and then finally seeing, President Clinton, along with Ed Rendell and Lois Murphy, speak to a crowd at Bryn Mawr College.

How long before we aren't ruled by idiots? oy

Regarding Al Gore, I wish he'd done more campaign events this year.

many people think Kerry might've won had he not been laid up for so long during that campaign, Ohioscam or not.

lost. Every one of them.
You overestimate Clinton's relevance.

13. Bill Clinton is everywhere.
Believe me, as an LBN mod I read a lot of news. Bill Clinton has been busting his butt for this party.

Just got through reading this:

Bill Clinton steps in to fill leadership void for Demos

By John M. Broder and Anne E. Kornblut
New York Times News Service
WASHINGTON — Suddenly, Bill Clinton is everywhere: leading a multibillion-dollar fund-raising effort for his global good works project, planning his own 60th-birthday party featuring the Rolling Stones, sitting for a flurry of television interviews to boost his foundation, refurbish his reputation and fire up Democratic voters.
Bubba's back. And he is bringing the whole complicated Clinton package with him as he bounds back on the national political stage in the closing stage of a hard-fought election. He is at once a brilliant political tactician capable of losing his temper on national television, a reminder of a decade of relative peace and prosperity and eight years of investigation and impeachment, and a gray-haired statesman keenly focused on the next political prize.

17. I was wondering, and meant to put in OP: is he actually doing a lot
of stumpage, and just getting ignored by M$M, (read TV) for this stuff?

maybe that's what's happening

meanwhile, everytime the cretin in chief hiccups, we have to hear about the density of the gas spewing from his piehole

friend's lives from global suicide. His efforts are creating a climate more conducive to a Democratic Candidate in general winning as Republicans don't care about this issue. One sign of his success is the split in the once solid evangelical vote, as thoughtful Christians are beginning to question the wisdom of trashing Earth without regard to the consequences.

P.S. Tonight Bill Moyers will have a program on P.B.S. on this very subject, "Is God Green?".

I don't believe this would be happening, had it not been for Al, which by the way helps the Democratic Candidates, you are speaking of. All those candidates have to do is put the sails up and catch the breeze coming, from Al's efforts.

22. Because a day has only 24 hours and even
Clinton and Gore have to sleep sometimes.

Secondly, this whole X campaigns for Y so Y wins is bullshit. It's not the way it works.
I wouldn't vote for Y just because X campaigns for him/her and I don't think most voters are different in that regard.

25. righto! so, by your impeccable logic, all campaigning by political
names should cease, is that it?

what about political advertising? surely nobody buys that garbage, and if the words of actual human beings is unpersuasive, why would anyone listened to canned propaganda?

so let's just eliminate all personal campaigning and advertising

you really have your finger on the pulse.

29. Clinton did two campaign events in suburban Philadelphia today.
One for Patrick Murphy in Bucks County. And one for Gov. Rendell and Lois Murphy at Bryn Mawr College in Montgomery County.

He also did one in Delawate County for last week for Joe.
