1. Done
Should the motto "In God We Trust" be removed from U.S. currency? * 43149 responses

Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.
17%

No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.

4. Suppose the dollar had on it "There is no god"
Then the Theists would understand how I feel now.

7. I'm an atheist
TO have "in god we trust" on the govenment's sanctioned money rubs me the wrong way.

12. That's OK

Written word doesn't catch the tone that voice has. I'm particularly guilty of writing sarcastic remarks that are not caught by the other DUers. So I try to make it clear when I'm being sarcastic. I'm not in this case.

13. I think it's against the law, so you probably won't catch me suggesting
that everyone take their money and write something like "THIS IS YOUR GOD" or "IMPEACH BUSH" or "THE WAR IS A LIE", but if you have change for a twenty...

11. Recently was in court and had to swear on a bible to
tell the truth.

Since I am an athiest, I felt no compulsion to tell the truth.

17. Personally, although I'm agnostic / atheist,
I'm not too invested in the issue. It's fairly small potatoes in the wider scope of getting religious-zealot-fundies out of politics. But, as little as I care, I do not think the word "God" has a place in government.
