Taxes Question
When Democrats are attacked for raising taxes, why dont they argue back about all the the communal expenditures that have to be funded - Department of Defence, law enforcement, education etc.

I have never heard any Democrat argue back this way. It infuriates me that they are tarred by Republicans - "he/she is gonna raise your taxes" and they don'tr fight back.

1. They should fight back with honesty.....
...."You bet your life we're going to have to raise SOME taxes-our opposition just spent like drunken sailors for six years to fund a huge illegal war of aggression...we have to pay what they've already billed our children for, and disengaging from this imperialist aggression will not come cheaply either. For six years the corporation shills have written our laws and moved into federal positions that oversee and regulate the very things they sell with the help of the current administration-this has left us with billions more to recoup.Meanwhile they have brought a huge bureaucracy of suppose "security" into existence that could not deliver water to an American disaster area in a week-remember the trans-continental ice shipments and the thousands of still unoccupied house trailers-we owe for those too.So yes-the marginal rates will rise for the top 20%-from those with many blessings much is expected. And estate taxes will return as well-I think those 2nd,and 3rd, and 4th generation scions of wealth have already received a better education, better health care, than most Americans and that even were we to take half of their inheritance none would be forced to beg on the street. There is but one pie and ALL Americans must share it and fairness does not support some eating all they can amass..."

3. I am sure people will understand if it is explained to them
this way. We have to tax the rich to pay for all the mismanagement of Dumbya and his maladministration. However, I don't hear any Democrat say it as succintly as you just did.

2. Because people want services without having to pay for them
People want all the communal stuff. They do not want to pay for it.

4. Its not even like Demovrats are gonna disproportionately
tax the poor. Infact I believe it would be the other way round. I wish they would point this out to people. George Allen has a killer tax ad on TV attacking Webb and I am afraid its gonna hurt Webb.
