Back in the news.... the Duke rape case
Apparently, the second dancer at the scene has changed her version of events once again, now claiming she does not support the alleged victim's story. This is according to a 60 Minutes interview to air on Sunday. The three accused former players will also be interviewed.

Too many changes to the story of the second dancer and the alleged victim... I don't know how it will be possible for DA Nifong to get a jury to convict three people beyond reasonable doubt.

1. More tabloid news for ratings and distraction
It's how the corporate media works.

2. Well, I don't think an alleged rape is ever
tabloid news. And here we are talking about potentially sending to jail three young people for a crime that may or may not have been committed. To me, tabloid news are when Paris Hilton releases an album. But an accusation of rape, especially with the racial and social undertones of this case, is not tabloid news.

3. Right. It's good of you to remind us of the racial & social overtones.
None of us would have ever recognized any part of that had you not.

This was "discussed" with wild abandon for ages here: visiting wingers vs. Democrats. I think you simply got here too late, unless it's your belief it's time to start it all up again.

4. I am totally hiding this thread
I still have emotional scars from those nasty, garbage-filled threads. Ugh.

You're a braver woman from I am, JL...

6. I really prefer your idea, LostinVa. I'm going to disappear it, also.
There's only so very, very, very much of this you can take, until you simply explode.

Some people just can't seem to get enough.

I would suspect a Republican would love to kick up a bit of dust to throw Democrats off the track of their massive problems!

I'm outta this one. I've really seen enough, a long time ago. There is no new hatred to vent, I'm sure. We've already seen it all.

5. Is There A Democratic Take And Freeper Take On Every Issue..
When I served on a jury I just looked at the facts and the law...

8. I'm still of the mind that we should let the jury and court hash this out
That is, after all, their function in our society. If the defendants are innocent, then they have little to worry about. If they're not, then they'll probably get their due. Yes, there are exceptions to this once in awhile, nothing is perfect. But it is the best system we've got, and a hell of a lot better than what has been going on for months, trying the case in the media.

I say let the wheels of justice roll, and the truth will out in the end.

10. I didn't know this was a D vs. R thing
Maybe I'm confused???? I thought it was about a rape by 3 assailants where the guilt of said assailants is seriously (IMHO) in doubt. Lest you be accusing me of being a freeper for bringing it up, many in the RDU area (where, after all, I lived and went to college) discuss and debate the case often, regardless of political affiliation.

I look at this case purely from the point of view of a legal professional and former (soon to be again) resident of that area, who is intimately familiar with the universities in the area.

You may feel free to hide the thread, but this is just as valid a topic for the General Discussion thread as anything else on it.
