Will gas prices go up after the Election?
Many people believe the lower prices are because of the upcoming election. Could this be true?

I predict that the prices will shoot up so fast, it'll knock Joe Sixpack over. +50 cents right on Nov. 8th.

8. Of course they will.
They will go especially high if we gain control as punishment for the threat to the oil companies free ride.

10. I think the price of gas may have bottomed out in Orlando FL
...I filled up last week at my Shell station for $2.079 per gallon of reg. unleaded, and it has gone up to $2.109 today. That could mean that gas is getting ready to go up for the winter tourist season although it may hold at this current level for the next three weeks so Dubya Inc. and their fascistic corporate oil oligarchies can milk the gullible sheep-le voters for all the support they get from them to try to salvage the imploding republican/conservative majority in congress. I'm not sure it will work.

My question though is that if the democrats get a majority in both houses in Washington, how do they expect to get anything done with a belligerent president who will veto every bill that is passed?

You have some nerve buying gas at $2.07, Long Island is still in the $2.29 range. Oh, about the question, DUH, of course.

17. I buy gas at the prices posted at the pumps, but I think Gov Jeb Bush
...suspended some of the state gas taxes to keep the prices lower, I may be wrong on that, but it seems that has been in play here in Florida for at least two years. Two and a half months ago my gas was $3.159 a gallon, so we've had high prices along with the rest of the country.

I have cut my driving way down from two years ago and find I can do quite nicely on two fill ups a month or about 35 to 38 gallons a month which translate out to about 850 to 920 miles of driving a month. However, it would be nice if my car got 55 to 60 miles per gallon, it is time that our auto-makers stopped selling horse-power, speed and performance and focused on the real needs of basic transportation and conservation. IMHO

Columbia Gas hike sought for November still lower than 2005 rate

Columbia Gas of Ohio yesterday proposed a November billing rate that is higher than this month but lower than a year ago.

The utility, which serves much of metro Toledo, filed a rate request with state regulators for $1 per 100 cubic feet of natural gas, down from $1.29 a year ago but up from 91 cents in October. Two years ago, the rate was 88 cents.

14. I hope for a sharp price jump BEFORE 11/7, once OPEC cuts production
by 1 million barrels a day.

OPEC has already decided to cut output and will announce this intention Oct 18-21.

Do OPEC nations want bush to continue with unlimited power or want Dems to win November 7th? bush is causing a lot of hurt in the Middle East - I bet they cut output BEFORE the election and cause prices at the pump to jump.

OPEC agrees on output cut -Algeria
Sun Oct 15, 2006 11:29 AM BST

ALGIERS (Reuters) - OPEC's ministers have reached an agreement to cut output by 1.0 million barrels per day and they will announce the decision at a meeting in Doha on Oct 18 to 21, Algeria's energy and mines minister said on Sunday.

"All OPEC members came to an agreement to reduce OPEC production by 1.0 million barrels per day," said Chakib Khelil, quoted by the official Algerian news agency APS as telling reporters in parliament.

"We (OPEC ministers) will make that announcement (of the production cut) officially and in a coherent manner during our next meeting in Doha," he added.

"The cut would certainly have direct impact in the market," he said.

20. The price of gasolene will hit an all-time high by December
I'm no oracle, but I assume they will skyrocket after Bushler&Co. steals the elections again... well, hopefully they will fail after we hit the streets like they did in Mexico.

21. Coming Down? They're Still High...
Two years ago, gas was still under $2 a gallon in my area and this week finally got back down to $2.25. So we should be happy we're almost back to where we were two years ago? Or that when the price shoots back up to $3 that "well I've seen it worse"...or settle for $2.50 as being "a bargain".

Be assured the week or so before Thanksgiving the prices will start heading upwards and by xmas will be back up or near $3 a gallon. Heavy driving season, ya know...or is it they have to re-formulate or some major refinery will burn...it's always something ya know...
