More than 3,000 Iraqi police sacked

National police to be reorganised after firing of over 1,000 policemen for law breaking and 2,000 others for dereliction of duty.

BAGHDAD - Iraq's National Police is being completely reorganized and over 3,000 officers have been dismissed, the Iraqi interior ministry spokesman said Tuesday.

Brigadier General Abdel Karim Khalaf told reporters at a press conference in the heavily fortified Green Zone that 1,228 had been sacked for breaking the law while nearly 2,000 more were dismissed for dereliction of duty.

"This restructuring was applied this week to the leadership of the National Police," Khalaf said. "The headquarters of the two divisions were dissolved and all brigades were brought directly under the commander of the National Police."

The National Police, which was formed out of the police commandos and the public order brigades, was hastily thrown together in 2004 to address security shortages and became notoriously infiltrated by militias.

3. Expect even more death and dismemberment.
This actually works to Bush-Cheney's advantage. The more screwed up things are, they reason, the less chance America can leave. They haven't yet secured the richest pot of oil.

5. Watch This Week's Frontline...
Another excellent report on how the booosh cabal messed everything in Iraq...and this was one of the biggest.

According to the show, L. Paul Bremer (medal of honor winner) took it upon himself to "de-Basify" the country against the advice of those "on the ground", then disbanded the army putting thousands of armed and unemployed men on the streets. The report said that there were still divisions of Iraqi troops that were willing to help stop the rioting and work with the CPA to keep order and Bremer ignored the help. He then, under pressure from boosh, cheney & von rumsfeldt, started rounding up these "dead-enders" and sending them to Abu Grahb that turned into "an insurgent recruitment camp". This episode is damning and must see.

The game changed when the troops went from being liberators to occupiers...it eliminiated any trust the Iraqis had about us (which was dubious at the start) and now rubs off on anyone who tries to do business with us. Any Iraqi who dares to sign on with the Americans is signing his death warrant.
