1. Thanks for that.
That was one of the appeals for common sense and reason which fell on the deaf ears of Turdy B'liar.

USA - if you don't have the time to watch the whole 11 minutes then watch from 7 minutes onward - he even says "Gore wouldn't have done this "

Was tragic that he died and the voice his of dissent lost.

Equally tragic that Claire Short had now thrown in the towel too.

3. one of the greatest parlimentary speeches EVER
Given just after his resignation in protest before the Iraq War.

RIP Robin, he was once asked if he ever wanted to be Prime Minister, he answered - "I'm too ugly to be PM", politicians of his calibre are sadly lacking and are hounded out from the Labour party by Blair and his minions.

4. Thank You, That Is a Magnificent Speech
Thank you so much for posting Robin Cook's eloquent speech. This is the first time I have heard it.

Cook quietly and humbly nails every every weakness in the Bush-Blair justification for attacking Iraq. He was extremely prescient in doubting that the existence of WMD in Iraq. He states that Saddam's army was half the size it was in 1990, when we so easily demolished it, and that he does not believe that Iraq even has any weapons of mass destruction or, if they do, they were sold to Saddam by the U.S. in the 1980's, have been there for more than 20 years, and don't present any urgent necessity for attack. Certainly not as long as the weapons inspectors are present in Iraq and continuing their search. The weapons inspectors asked for only an additional month or two to complete their inspection. Cook notes that the Bush administration greeted the absence of WMD in Iraq with consternation rather than relief, consternation that the inspectors confirmation of the absence of WMD in Iraq would demolish their justification for their planned invasion.

I wonder if Keith Olbermann is aware of this speech. I bet he'd find it extremely useful for his continuing commentaries on the Bush administration's criminal disregard for the rule of law and international diplomacy.

8. I think his best quote about the Shrub was:
"I can just about forgive him Iraq. But dropping a Scottie on his head, that's really stupid."

And ten years later, this quote is so appropriate to the Blair government:

"This is not just a government that does not know how to accept blame - this is a government that knows no shame."

10. He is sadly missed...
one of the few in the government of the time who had integrity.

I recommend his book, "Point of Departure".
