What Would Jesus Do, Asshole?
READ MORE: Iraq

I can't tell you how much this ad with Michael J Fox upsets me. I had the chance to meet him during the Kerry Campaign, and he is such a good person and to see him so much worse, barely twenty four months later breaks my heart.

It just is truly awful.

And then I checked out the reaction to this ad and see plenty of right wing nut cases chortling that we ought to send him back to Canada because he was born there? Here's a comment someone actually posted on YouTube.

"This dude is a Canadian. Why is he in the US talking to Congress, faking being American? Because we need to fix him up, all our resources are to go to him, because he has a problem. Go to Canada, they have socialized medicine, maybe they can help you. Oh, that's why you are here. I get it now."

Please, allow me to be the first to say: Fuck you.

I just can't take this anymore.

They destroy veterans to win elections so they can play toy soldiers and kill our children.

They smear and attack and lie.

And here's a man, a father to young children, a good person - and we're not doing everything humanly possible to help him? Everything humanly possible is the only moral and ethical choice here. The only one.

Wonder where we would be if the millions we spend every hour in Iraq were spent on stem cell research?

Wonder if Jesus would think maybe we should re-allocate some funds? And reconsider our opposition to saving lives? What do you think?

what an *sshole! And he does a great job representing his party.

If Jesus were suddenly here today and saw what was going on, esp. in his name, I think he would take off for another planet as fast as he could.

6. Michael J. Fox is an American citizen

Michael J. Fox Becomes American Citizen
18 July 2000 (WENN)
Canadian-born Michael J. Fox has followed in the footsteps of Welsh-born actor Anthony Hopkins by swearing an oath and becoming an American citizen The actor who recently left his hit TV show Spin City to campaign for Parkinson's Disease, which he suffers from, has found it very difficult and has been "greatly bothered" by living in America but not being able to vote. Fox, who has lived in America for 20 years and whose wife and children are all American citizens, secretly swore the oath of allegiance earlier this year and is now reportedly looking forward to voting in the next general election.

13. I thought he had become a citizen,
but wasn't sure which year. I feel awful about what he's going through and appreciate the work he's doing. I don't understand why repugs like the poster mentioned have to trash him. Micheal J. Fox is trying to help everyone which seems to go right over that ignorant person's head.

2. Great article
I'm not Christian, but even I know that Jesus advocated for love, tollerance, healing, helping, and giving, not war, violence, murder, hatred. Like all great religious leaders, he must watch his followers do things he'd never have wanted.

4. Imagine if all Republicans** were "Raptured"...
to where they belong (and trust me, there aren't 72 virgins or temperate weather where most of them belong)... Seems like the world would be a wonderful place. I just wonder how long before the flaws in the Human race would once again repopulate that particular subset.

**and people like them, worldwide.

11. I've been praying for their rapture for a long long time, and not because
I want their car either.

5. K and R!
This saddens me so much! I have never been able to understand the wingnuts opposition to stem cell research. I had an early miscarriage and requested that any embryonic cells or placental cells be donated to science. Answer:no. I requested every time that I delivered that the placental cells be used for science. Answer:no.

I just don't understand the big NO to research and to science.

7. Michael J. Fox is an American citizen
He took the oath of allegiance in 2000. Which means he passed a test on America's history that most freepers couldn't pass without cheating and unless it included questions about The Simpsons, American Idol and NASCAR.

Further, this country could do far worse (and regrettably is) than to devote itself to saving people's lives instead of pissing its morality away on lies and more lies.

Michael is not the only American citizen with Parkinsons. But, typically, that doesn't matter to a freeper until it gets them or one of their own. Then they'll be crying for the research to be done.

9. I doubt they watch the Simpsons
or if they do, that they understand it, especially since it obviously leans left (evil Mr. Burns is a Republican, etc.)

12. not at all. They do put in little jabs to both sides
but I'd say overall they make fun of the right (and the freeper types) far more.

8. Watching MJ Fox in that ad made me cry....How anyone can make such remarks
questioning his being an American, or making such awful comments as are being posted is so disgusting and shameful...that makes me cry too....makes me cry for how many evil and "un-christian" people there are out there that would mock MJ Fox or anyone who is suffering like him.
