What exactly did CNN do wrong?
I somehow missed what caused it, but I've heard the following snippets on the radio and various other 'news' segments.

1. Anderson Cooper did something bad
2. Whatever he did seems to have given him a free membership of alQueda (according to Bushistas)
3. CNN imbeds are being asked to go home
4. Rice-aroni was in Russia espousing the necessity of a free press. (not really connected but she's such a hypocrite)

So, what do Coop do? Is it online (Youtube?)

2. CNN posted and broadcast some insurgent video from Iraq
Some of it apparently included video of a sniper killing a U.S. soldier. (At least, I assume that's what you're referring to.)

4. Just a guess:
I hear that Anderson Cooper showed pictures from the Iraqi insurgents attacking U.S. troops. They've been widely circulated on the Internet and they show soldier after U.S. soldier being shot by a sniper (or snipers) who basically can get away with it. It's such a clusterfuck in Iraq, Jesus Christ.

I saw a headline that CNN was getting being removed from the embedded photographers. So, either you report the bullshit CENTCOM wants you to report or you report the Truth on the ground. If you choose Truth, NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Of course, another bone-headed move on CENTCOM's part- now there will be even less bullshit being peddled on CNN about Iraq. I say, good. I'm sure they'll still whore it up for the administration, just a little less.

6. Maybe they'll do what reporters used to do, before they were "embedded"?
You know, the whole wander around and interview different people thing, get a lot of different perspectives on a topic, wire their content straight to the editors without going through military censors first, and so on. I think they called it "reporting," but that was so very long ago...

8. I watched a minute but missed the US troop hit
I assumed it was just more war hype. It is usually very different from when I watched the Viet Nam war all the time. The VN war was bloody bodies in the field every night.

Cable news I've stomached to watch is just Iraq war hype. Just designed to incite military fascination.

I have to give props to CNN and Anderson Cooper if they managed to leak that US troops are being killed.
There's nothing Republicans hate worse that the truth. After facts, of course.

If it was that controversial you'd think someone would have uploaded it? Did it actually get broadcast? Did the censors confiscate it? Is there a link?

It was done by that great reporter with the strong accent, but I can't think of his name. It shows the snipers picking their victim...is that the one you were referring to? it was on at 3:00 am cst.

29. I heard, in very strong terms, that CNN faded out when the soldier
was actually shot, and they did NOT run the image of the American falling.

Someone said they absolutely did NOT show the man being killed on CNN, although it's understood he was. The person I heard said they simply "faded" it "to black."

I was "lucky" enough to hear Michael Savage bellowing about it a few nights ago on his "program."

34. Since images of our young men and women dying...
is what turned public opinion against the Vietnam War, this was to be a sanitized war. No photos of the injured or dead, no photos of body bags or coffins.

Remember, we have to stay upbeat and forget about those who are being maimed and killed every day over there.
