US Atty sitting on Renzi (R-AZ) Indictment until after election
That culture of corruption has reared its ugly head again. Wonder how the rethugs will try and spin this one? Somebody is going to have to set up a spreadsheet to keep track of all the repug indictments, trials, prison sentences and people who have resigned under a cloud of misdeeds. And the Attorney General is hiding the indictment? I'm shocked I tell you, shocked!

BREAKING: US Attorney Sitting on Renzi Indictment Until After Election!

Posted Oct 21, 03:50 PM
Remember that Phoenix New Times article about the land deal that Rick Renzi was involved in?

Well we have learned that Renzi was wiretapped presumably by the FBI soliciting a bribe in exchange for introducing a bill for a landswap in Cochise County.

An AP reporter discovered that Renzi may be indicted for income tax fraud and a related charge to the bribery.

Renzi has been interviewed by the FBI.

The U.S. Attorney for Arizona Paul Charlton has decided not to indict Renzi until after the election. The prosecutor assigned to the case is Howard Sukenic. He along with the spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys office is refusing to comment.

The investigation has been concluded, they succeeded in getting a federal grand jury to indict him but are sitting on the indictment until after the election in order to keep the seat in Republican control.

There really is a Culture of Corruption, and it is making its way to the Judicial branch.

2. If Renzi wins, and is removed from his seat...
do Arizona rules require a special election to replace him, or does the party assign someone else?

3. From Arizona Revised Statute 16-222.
Vacancy in the office of United States senator or representative:

B. For a vacancy in the office of representative in Congress, if the next general election is not to be held within six months from the date of the occurrence of the vacancy, the governor shall call a special primary election and a special general election to fill the vacancy. The special primary election shall be held no less than seventy-five nor more than one hundred five days after the occurrence of the vacancy, and the special general election shall be held not less than thirty-five nor more than forty-five days after the special primary election.

5. Will that special primary be free of charge to the taxpayers? There
will be no expenses incurred by the state in connection with this cover-up?

I would think that all the Arizona media would be up in arms about this except that Arizona is repuke country.

8. The voters will be SO MAD when they have to pay for another election...

9. Too bad the republican party can't be made to pay for any special
elections that could have been avoided except for their lies, deceptions, and cover-ups.

6. Renzi has been a crook
...for years. Renzi represents Arizona - because we Virginians know better!

Indicting him - I suppose better late than never, but I'd rather he be indicted before the November election.
