Dancing Jesus video!
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 09:02 AM by Joanne98
I know this is insulting to people of faith but since they have been voting to destroy America for the last 25 years, it's what they deserve.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7175882641932738003&hl=en

Pat Buchcanan was on TV last week and he said the Evangelicals quit voting in the 1920's and they didn't vote again till 1980 when they came out for Raygun. Well lets' think about that. When Carter left office the debt was about 600 billion dollars NOW after 25 years of evangelicals voting it's 49 TRILLION DOLLARS WITH OBLIGATIONS! When Carter left office in 1980 the earth was fine and we had polar icecaps and glaciers but NOW after 25 years of evangelicals voting THEY ARE ALL MELTING! Some things just aren't fixable. Therefore, if we win the election this time, I suggest we start thinking of ways to make the evangelicals pay off the debt BY THEMSELVES and officially charge them with the crime of destroying the planet!

Since the evangelicals have been voting we have gone from the world's largest creditor to the worlds largest debtor. Since the evangelicals have been voting we have gone from a healthy planet to a dying planet.
Think about it. At the very least, they should admit that they are gullible IDIOTS, apologize to the human race and then STAY HOME FOR THE NEXT FIFTY YEARS so us evil secular progessives can TRY to fix the mess they got us in. It's the very least they can do.

humor forum a few months back and was also 'bad' enough I sent a link to a relative who's faith is now born again evangelical. She laughed like a maniac - thought it was very funny too and then felt bad that she was laughing so hard.

It is one of my favorite videos ever - very well done.

then I'll have a little more sympathy for their tender sensibilities. Until then, they have to deal with "offensive" stuff just like the rest of us. Talk about divisive! The religious often seem to lack any sense that not everyone shares their belief in invisible deities and supernatural critters.

80. Why don't you actually find out before starting with the smears?
Wouldn't that be the prudent thing to do, if you REALLY want Dem votes?

Or would you rather just divide and conquer?

As I said to you, and you don't reply, aren't you glad that in the 50's and 60's, African Americans marching for justice didn't make sweeping statements about white Americans?

Isn't there something to learn from that?

What would "make me happy" is for you to get that you offended many Christian DUers, and to just apologize instead of trying to continue to defend it, and continue to slam DUers.

Try some bridge-building and some understanding.

That's how peace is made.

Churchgoing closely tied to voting pattern
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-06-02-religion-gap_x.htm

By Susan Page, USA TODAY
Where will you spend Sunday morning? Will you go to church or Home Depot? Sing in the choir or play golf? Answer that question and you've given the most reliable demographic clue about your vote on Election Day.
Voters who say they go to church every week usually vote for Republicans. Those who go to church less often or not at all tend to vote Democratic.

Forget the gender gap. The "religion gap" is bigger, more powerful and growing. The divide isn't between Catholics and Protestants, Jews and Gentiles. Instead, on one side are those of many faiths who go to services, well, religiously: Catholics who attend Mass without fail, evangelical Christians and mainline Protestants who show up for church rain or shine, some Orthodox Jews. On the other side are those who attend religious services only occasionally or never.

The religion gap is the leading edge of the "culture war" that has polarized American politics, reshaped the coalitions that make up the Democratic and Republican parties and influenced the appeals their presidential candidates are making. The debate over same-sex marriage is expected to make it wider than ever this year. Gay rights, partial-birth abortion, definitions of patriotism and other "values" issues are likely to exacerbate the divide between the most observant and others.

Vote in 2000 by church attendance
Bush Gore
More than once a week 68% 32%
Once a week 58% 42%
Once or twice a month 41% 59%
A few times a year 40% 60%
Seldom 39% 61%
Never 35% 65%

Republicans target the most faithful for political conversion so aggressively that critics say they skirt the law. At the White House, President Bush has courted people of faith with his policies and language. They are a huge group: In 2000, one in four voters said they attended church every week.

Democrats are divided over whether to respond, and how. Presidential candidate John Kerry is taking some first steps to reach out to observant voters.

"Once social issues came to the forefront — abortion, gay rights, women's rights — it generated differences based on religious attendance," says John Green, a University of Akron political scientist who studies religion and politics. "More observant people tend to have more traditional morality, and they moved in a more conservative direction because of those issues."

I guess I'm just part of the "reality based" community!

I may not believe that he was divine, but he was a spectular human being who was the closest thing to a radical leftist that I could ever imagine.

What's next, a hip-hoppin Ghandi?

68. In that you somehow believe hip hop is antithetical
to the teachings or memory of Gandhi. In reality, the EXACT opposite is true.

87. Gandhi was all about communication and empowerment,
particularly when it came to Indians and Blacks. If he were alive, he'd probably be making his own hip hop videos. And they'd kick ass.

90. AND
so WHAT.

This isn't a debate about what hip hop signifies. It was about the dichotomy of the person Ghandi, performing an energetic form of a particular dance....NOTHING ELSE...from which you made an erroneous and disgusting assumption, and pulled the race card.

66. Seriously,
you've just spewed out rascism in reference to my post in which I've described a particular dance form in relation to a particular historical figure.

69. Great. Here's you opportunity to explain why you did it.
Why is hip hop antithetical to Gandhi?

72. I explained it.
Now,explain your own narrow racist thinking that would lead you to assume that a member of DU would be referring to ANYTHING about the VALUE of hip hop or the culture it represents.

38. You're right. He was a radical leftist. That's why they crucified him.
He was destroying the divine right doctrine. a well known communist idea. But that's all been fixed now with the GOP christians changing Jesus from the "Feed the poor, Prince of Peace", to Jesus the" War-mongering, greedy capitalist pig". If I was a christian, I would be really pissed about that. In fact, I would have preferred the dancing Jesus to be MUSCULAR, with short hair, holding money in one hand and a bomb in the other. But I didn't make the video so I don't get my way! Peace be with you.

I'm a skeptic with no beliefs in any religion at all.

If right wing crazies distort the historical Jesus, you believe we should remedy that by distorting him in a different way?

I see no value in that.

without the dancing Jesus video nobody would have paid attention.

and type in "jesus christ" and you'll get it.

As a lot of KC DU'ers know this is one of my favorite videos. I played it at evlbstrd's house for the gang at one of our after-meetup parties. Everyone loved it.

Moderator consensus is to lock this. The original post framing this video link is inflammatory.

Thanks.
