1. Why is it at all appropriate to call him Pudge?
I have no idea whether he's overweight or not (haven't seen a picture in years), but what would weight, excess or not, have to do with the rest of him?

4. So do you use racial slurs for Condi, then?
And is it acceptable to use homophobic slurs for Foley?

7. Excuse you? What slurs am I using?
I detest ALL wingnuts------Hispanic (like ESTRADA) or Clarence or Gay or whomever. It's the WINGNUTTINESS. You and I have been around here a LONG time. This is a first for us.

13. Calling him "pudge" is remarking about his weight. Maybe it's not a slur--
maybe it's akin to saying Gay Foley or Black Condi (assuming he is indeed pudgy) with more rhyme -- but pointing it out makes it seem somehow bad.

At least that's how I'm reading it.

I'd probably stick with "sludge," as in the crap he throws around.

I'm done with this argument. Carry on.

15. You are READING your own PROJECTING agenda
Let me be clear about MY prejudices. Matt PUDGE is----------BAD--------to me because he is a traisoness hypocrite, LYING about his OWN home group. So is Clarence THOMAS, and Miguel ESTRADA. I have NO idea why this is so difficult for you to understand.

17. Okay, I guess I'm not done. Explain to me what you mean when you call
him "pudge."

If you are pointing out that he's overweight, I think that's inappropriate, as his weight is really not relevant to this discourse. (The only time I can see that being relevant is if he's being hypocritical about it. And, it's been awhile, but I do not remember Drudge really talking weight.)

If you are calling im "pudge" to demean him, then I can only assume that you believe "pudge" is a demeaning thing to be -- i.e. that being pudgy or overweight or fat is bad. (Unless I'm missing some other definition of "pudge" that is not in the dictionary; if so please enlighten me and I'll shut up).

If you are calling him "pudge" for other reasons, then feel free, but it's lost on me.

6. If I had any idea what your original post was referring to, I might.
When I saw "in memorium," I had no idea who had died. (Yes, I am well aware that way too many soldiers have died recently and in this war. No, I did not use my psychic powers to figure out that's who you were talking about, even with the Babs reference.)

(And Matt Drudge is, what, 40 years old -- can you even enlist at 40?)

10. I'm not in this argument,
I just wanted to say, I think you CAN enlist at 40. Actually, I think the maximum age is 42 now. They are SO desperate to get enough soldiers.

14. (responding to all three replies) Sweet jesus.
42?

I'm 31 and can't imagine newly enlisting at my age. (Then again...I've never been much interested in military service, or capable of bench pressing more than the weight of a small child, so perhaps someone with more experience can better comment.)

20. Amazing, isn't it
Though what it has to do with your point about the OP using "Pudge" as a pejoritive is completely beyond me. ;-)

18. Perhaps you're sucker punched because of your attitude.
I know eyesroll as a classy lady, and a straight shooter.

As a Dem who carries a few extra pounds, I also fail to see how Drudge's weight has anything to do with the crap that comes out of his mouth. And I find your remark offensive.

If he starts picking on fat people, then nail him for hypocrisy. But until then, you look exactly like what we hate conservatives for.

19. You used a weight-based insult
And you're upset because you were called on it? :eyes:

Buddy, you weren't sucker-punched, you deserved that reprimand. I'm not a fan of Matt Drudge either, but calling him "Pudge" as a way of insulting him is offensive. Or do you think it's acceptable to mock people for their appearance rather than their actions?
