President Bush Discusses No Child Left Behind Act in North Carolina
I want to thank -- you know, they say to me, what do you want from the schools? I don't know if you recognize this, but we just had six Nobel Prize winners recently announced -
America had six Nobel -- all of whom went to public schools in America. And my hope as I travel through the halls of these schools, like this one, I'm meeting Nobel Prize winners of the future. It's a noble aspiration for all of us to aim for. And so I want to thank you for letting me come.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061018-3.htmlName, year born, years in public schools, presidents during 12 years of school (assuming started when they were 6 yrs old).
John C. Mather born 1946 (1952-1964) two dems, one repug,
George F. Smoot born 1945, (1951-1963) two dems, one repug
Edmund S. Phelps 1933 (1939-1951) - all dem presidents,
Roger D. Kornberg 1947, (1953-1965) three dems, one repug
Andrew Z. Fire 1959, (1965-1977) one dem, 2 repugs
