Was Gore deluded or have times changed that much?

4. Holy Joe Lieberman was chosen
to offset the corrosive effects of the Clinton scandal - was my impresssion at the time. And who knows what say Gore had in it. Joe may have been foisted on him in the interests of the DLC.

5. Gore made many missteps...he admits that too.
Joe was just another in a series. Remember, Gore also considered Kerry and Edwards either of whom would have probably given us the ticket in my opinion. I don't think Lieberman drew anyone to the Gore ticket.

6. Please don't rewrite history
I detest Lieberman and want to see him booted out next month, but in 2000 he was a plus for Gore, energizing Jewish voters and attracting positive support from religious voters of all stripes. He was also seen as a way to innoculate Gore against the Clinton "scandal."

Lieberman certainly didn't hurt Gore in terms of the votes (as a backstabber in the aftermath that's another story) and it's doubtful that given Gore's weak campaign, a different running mate would have made a difference.

I note this as a Jewish liberal Democrat who would like to see Lieberman lose this year and Gore run in 2008.

9. Yeah it's one of his better efforts
He is inconsistent these days, I suspect in part because of his passion - more anger doesn't always lead to more funny. But this is very good.
