Harold Ford is kicking ass on CNN
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 09:50 PM by JI7
Corker complaining about Ford family members running and some other nonsense. wonder if he ever made a comment on the Bush family.

but Harold Ford did a good job of defending himself and bringing the attention back to the issues. says Corker can't run on party accomplishments in DC. says he loves his family but it's him running, not his uncle who is in trouble with the law.

overall Ford just sounds really good.

Corker sounds awful, how did he ever end up on the ballot in the first. doesn't speak well of Republicans when i see people like him. but of course many times they have elected that type.

1. Corker is a pygmy. Intellectual pygmy. Accomplishments pygmy.
Oh, and he's physically very small, short and small-frame. Maybe 5'7" and 155 lbs?

3. yeah, i saw a video clip of him and Ford standing next to each other
and facing each other. Ford looked very tall with Corker looking up to him.

Ford not only is physically bigger, but mentally also. Corker just looks and sounds like a loser.

2. How soon until he pulls out his "CT for Lieberman" sign?
With all due respect, Ford is a fucking tool.

4. he is running in Tennessee, his support for Lieberman is a strategic move
to help him with voters in Tennessee who might be afraid he is too liberal.

13. i doubt any Connecticut voter is supporting Lieberman because of Ford
but there are DEMOCRATS in Connecticut who aare still going to vote for Lieberman. is there anything we can do about that ?

17. Yeah, a lot of people are trying
and a DLC tool like Ford insulting the party's nominee certainly doesn't help.

19. seriously, why are people supporting Lieberman ?
i don't mean the Republicans but the Democrats and others who would normally vote for the Dem candidate and probably view a vote for Lieberman as a vote for a Dem.

many Dems like Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Hillary , Clinton etc are supporting Lamont. those Dems are far more well known than Harold Ford.

i think the problem is a lack of support for Lamont and instead of the preaching to the choir about how horrible Lieberman is. how do we get people who are not like us in their dislike for Lieberman to vote for Lamont ?

20. It occurs to me that some DU'ers use the term DLC'er the same way
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 11:11 PM by cryingshame
a seven year old uses the term 'poopie-head'.

Not much meaning implied... just a way to insult someone who doesn't agree with you 100%.

18. True that...
it will be a wash if Ford wins and Lieberman holds off Lamont, then goes on to caucus with the GOP. But, hey, hooray for Tennessee...

25. not about the race as much as Ford associating with a guy the view
as moderate. Ford will need conservative voters if he is going to win. the conservative voters will feel better about voting for him if they see he is associating with a guy that is viewed as a moderate.

I'm just of the mind that he didn't need to throw Lamont under the bus to do so.

Ford isn't as well known as Lieberman is.

28. There's plenty of moderates who aren't running against Democrats.
IMO, this kind of thing only makes us look divided and weak as a party. Couldn't he hang out with the Nelsons, or Senator Landrieu or Bayh? It's not like our party is bereft of "moderates" without Lieberman. Ford seems to be acting in ways that promote that stereotype, while ignoring moderates who are still actually working within the Democratic party.

I'm just not buying the whole thing, though I don't have to, since I'm not a Tennessee voter.

29. Lieberman is well known unlike those others
i don't like this either. but Landrieu and Nelson are pretty much doing the same thing. they are both backing Lieberman. it's not just Harold Ford but most if not all red state candidates.

31. I know. My own senator (Salazar) is backing Loserman.
And I can tell you now that the vote he got from me in '04 is the last vote that he will ever get from me.

Since he's so fond of 3rd party candidacies, he shouldn't have any problem when I support and vote for whichever progressive 3rd party candidate is running against him.

30. Centrist Dems won't disappear
And Connecticut is a lesson in why Democrats lose national elections, the majority still rejects what they perceive as far left politics. Not liking what Republicans are doing is not the same as approving of the Green Party agenda.

you don't have to be competent, qualified, or honest. You just have to be republican.

Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 10:05 PM by redphish
Ford tried more than once to bring the focus of the interview to the issues at hand, and Corker kept dwelling on the mud-slinging. I think Ford handled himself like a pro, and Corker showed that he truly has no grasp on what is going on in the real world.
