The totally insane justifications for continuing the war.
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 05:12 AM by Philosoraptor
One that sickens me a lot is the old, "the best way to honor the fallen is to continue the war". It sounds like it was written by the high school pep club, and it falls flat on it's face and wont' pass the logic or smell test.

"Iraq will descend into civil war if we leave now", uh, excuse me?

"If we don't kill all the terrorists in Iraq they will follow us home". Uh, I went to grade school you stupid fucks.

"It would appease and encourage the 'enemy' if we pulled out". I'd say we've encouraged them plenty already.

"Israel would fall prey to Islamofascism", well big woop, they have nukes and weapons of mass destruction, they will be fine.

"America does not surrender", uh, surrender is when you drop your weapons and throw yourself at the mercy of your conquerer, and no one is going to do that.

"Pulling out of Iraq will de-stabilize the middle east", black is white, up is down.

They've run out of logical sounding reasons for staying the curse, so now they are just spouting totally unbelievable bullshit bumper sticker slogans to trick the tiny percentage of totally insane bush voters to tip the vote in their favor. Only the insane would swallow any of the increasingly ridiculous reasons for staying in Iraq.

5. "If we don't kill all the terrorists in Iraq they will follow us home".
Actually, when I hear that one, I imagine little Timmy tugging on his mom's skirt and then asking her, earnestly, Mom, they followed me home, can I keep them?

7. I don't know Timmy, that's a lot of responsibility
you have to feed him and bathe him and keep him out of the gun cabinet.

12. you forgot one...
"VICTORY"!

<snip>

The White House says it will not allow political considerations to dictate its strategy in Iraq. President Bush told Republican supporters in Washington Friday that he knows the situation is difficult and is a fundamental issue in the current campaign. But he reaffirmed his commitment to achieve victory in Iraq, saying it us vital to the security of a generation of Americans to come.

"And so we will stay in Iraq, we will fight in Iraq, and we will win in Iraq," said Mr. Bush.

The president says tactics change all the time, but the strategy remains the same: to achieve victory.

14. Victory is not a strategy - it's a result
Forget the five dollar weasel words like "strategy".
you don't achieve victory without a plan.. and Bush doesn't have one.

16. You'd think one of the king's men
would try to give him a clue.
Then again, sounds like it's not exactly
an open environment to make suggestions.
