Time for some good old fashioned gerrymandering

Looks like we are in pretty good shape (don't want to jinx anything) in New York (9 GOP Seats), Pennsylvania (12 GOP Seats) and Ohio (11 GOP Seats). governorships and the State Houses and the Momentum. SCOTUS has affirmed that a state is within its right to reapportion representation anytime it sees fit. Seems to me that if could gerrymander some 15 seats, that we could assure control of the House until about 2022.

...even if they don't want to gerrymander, at least they should make the lines more fair than they are now.

perhaps we want to take the high road and not follow the pug's lead.

Gerrymandering can backfire big time when the mood of the electorate shifts, because it dilutes support until it is barely strong enough to hold, and consolidates opposition to the point it is impossible to defeat.

I would rather gight the apportionment war coming out of solid election result then waiting until 2011 when things wwould be perhaps a little less faveorable.

Strategically. we can set thing up now so that if the GOP takes any og these states back they would have to do so by diluting minoirty voting strength in 2011

especially if it increases the number of seats. All I'm saying is do it in an honest way that is representative of the electorate and avoid political Gerrymandering.

I've just been looking at the congressional polls and they do not look good for the 'pugs.

If I had to guess, and this is just my guess, is that the border between blue Texas and Red texas will move north across the state. I expect north and east Texas to stay red (Except Houston). The area around Laredo, which was Republican country, will switch. The immigration issue got the attention of the Mexican-American community, and they're going to punish the incumbents. Austin and San Antonio are blue. Dallas is a toss-up. El Paso and the Lower Rio Grande Valley are blue and will remain blue.

Delay's seat will go Democratic. Part of the reason is the Gerrymandering that added the Clear Lake area to that district (NASA- JSC). It diluted the red votes from Sugarland.

So, as much as we wish to create a few "majority Republican" districts and keep the rest of the districts for ourselves, it won't happen. I doubt if she would do redistricting in the short term, either.

We've seen first hand what happens when revenge tops common sense. We have Iraq and the loss of the Bill of Rights as an example. We cannot become them. Redistrict, but do it in a common sense manner. Get help from a bipartisan panel. Show some class.
