Who benefits most from these 2008 prognostications?

At the moment, I don't care who may or may not be running for President in 2008. But I have to wonder which party all of this discussion I'm seeing/hearing is benefitting (not just here at DU, but ALL OVER the cable news).

The plan is to show us as disorganized and chaotic.

The Mike Gravel Channel. All Mike, 24/7.

I don't believe Gravel's name is much mentioned on CNN or FOX or anywhere else.

As long as they're pimping people who haven't even declared for the presidency, they might just as well promote someone who has.

Let's hereby declare Mike Gravel the 2008 frontrunner.

All the discussion in the media seems to assume we have won Congress and are getting ready for 2008. The large segment of our population who just votes for whomever they think they are supposed to vote for are just assuming the Dems are the party to vote for now.

It also helps that the buzz is which Dem will win in 2008, which gets people used to the idea that we will win in 2008. The Republicans are on defense now. That should change a few times in the next couple of years, but it's good that people do see us as a viable, even likely, party in power. Beats the last few years, when they've assumed the opposite.

People are talking about which Dem wil get the nomination, because people want something to change. That only helps us. And there are no Repubs to really excite the general public.

i am hoping that we (and hillary) are too smart to take the bait because i don't think hillary can win . . . without diebold in her pocket. that is why all the talk of hillary is coming from the right. they are using the 'if we say it often enough, people will eventually believe it' strategy to convince us that WE want hillary to run in '08.

unfortunately, this strategy is now being picked up by more on the left, albeit, most likey without realizing that it is a strategy. i don't want the right wing or even centrist pundits deciding who i want for president.

treated like a possible run by a Democrat is. IMO, it makes our candidates look less than worthy of the position, elevating Republican choices.

Who would rather we(The Media/News Consumers) focus on 2008 instead of that other thing that's happening on a Tuesday a few weeks from now. :evilgrin:
