Gore Vidal
calls Bush's elections a "cout de tat".

He calls the current administration "Junta"

The US will be "bankrupt" in two years.

2. Nothing I haven't done in the last six years.
He hold power without legitimacy. No American, military or civilian, owes Bush the slightest allegiance.

5. Yes. "Etat " means state. "Coup of the State". Has Bush said "L'Etat c'est moi" yet?

4. My high school teachers nudged me firmly away from Vidal
and toward Mailer instead.

When I later began to do my own reading picks and strategizing, I returned to Vidal for one novel -- JULIAN -- and it won my heart.

To learn a bit later that he was also refreshingly progressive and bold politically was a huge plus.

Vidal's LINCOLN is a tremendous read, one every clueless Republican in the country should look at before they vote on Nov. 7th.

In recent interviews since 2000, Vidal has been especially critical of the Bush administration.

And properly so.
