Local GOP pundit "The GOP needs to change. Sayin that the Dems are worse won't work"
www.recordonline.com My local newspaper has a liberal and a conservative opinion writers. Recently, (Conservative) Doug Cunningham shocked his readers by saying that he would vote Democratic this year.

He says that the GOP needs to clean itself up, and that Dem control might be the tonic that cleans up the GOP.

He says that the GOP must improve; that being a little better then the Dems is simply not good enough.

I agree with him.

Furthermore, I agree with what he says, in reverse. It is not good enough that the Dems take control, they must also govern effectively.

Once 2006 is done, I will be looking for a progressive in 2008. I will be looking for a liberal in 2008.
If you support the bankruptcy bill, NCLB, the war, the drug war, torture, the death penalty, or drilling in ANWAR, don't expect my vote. I can get those things with McCain.

Victory in 2006. True leadership in 2008. Anything else in uncivilized.

1. Yeah I agree
We need to see what Congressional Democrats do with the power they get (assuming they win). It can't be much worse, but I'd like it to be a lot better.

2. "Sayin that the Dems are worse won't work"...
is ridiculous coming from a political party that has failed miserably with complete control of congress and the Executive.

4. unless you think this is a success
the war, nclb, katrinia...ect. If the goal was to show that government is ineffective and that corporations need to be in control, Bush = mission accomplished.

5. I Do Believe They Were Trying to Make Federal Programs Look
bad intentionally. Great example is FEMA and how they tried like hell to demonize Social Security.
