2008 Presidential Straw Poll

basically, if I want a pro bankruptcy, pro drug war, pro torture, pro Iraq war candidate in 2008, I can vote for McCain, Pataki, or Guliani.

Gore has said repeatedly that he won't...Biden has said he will.

His comments on it were very nuanced. But he did not rule out a run in 2008.
In my opinion, he *will* be running, but not until it's time to run.

These 2008 polls don't do much at this time, but they are harmless. I would have voted for Gore if you had put him on the poll.

Al Gore should be the first choice in the poll, and Biden... has lain with lizards.

Russ Feingold is my second choice.

He is far and away my pick. Both personally and strategically.

For Dems to win the 2008 ticket it will take someone who is strong in international relations, first and foremost. Second will be domestic policy and the environment. ANY Dem who is nominated will be automatically sensitive to both domestic and the environment.

Forget Gore for the moment because there is less of a guarantee that he will even run.

Who is the best suited in international relations? John Kerry and Wes Clark
As a running mate focused on domestic and the environment? Clinton, Feingold & Obama

That's as close as I could reason it and it looks like a tough choice for any of us.

I also think the U.S. citizenry would be more apt to go for a woman or a minority in a Vice Presidential position 1st, before Pres.

If Kerry won the nomination, then Clark would get Rummy's spot. Kerry/ Clark or visa versa would be strong as well.

Just some thoughts

He's my choice no matter who's on the poll. Go Kerry!

Remember, kerry was portrayed as the "most liberal" senator and almost won (some say he did). Whoever we pick will become the "most liberal person"; but if we have someone who is a genuine lefty and can really mobilize grassroots, then it will be an easy win. Corporate spinsters at the top of the party will warn you not to try to carry a progressive like Dennis into it, but say **** them and do it!
