CNN should get someone else next time to deliver grim news....

Barbara Starr was just on reporting about the missing soldier in Iraq. Gosh she looks depressing. I don't know...maybe it's her glasses.

3. I'm kind of sick of the beauty queen smiley reporters though
This kind of thing sounds even crazier coming from the vacant looking model chicks, maybe it's just me. Actually I find 99% of the talking heads on the news absolutely impossible to watch, Keith Olbermann DEF EXCLUDED I LUUUUUUUUV THAT MAN!

4. She is a really thorough reporter. She has a LOT of friends in the
Pentagon, and not just in the Office of Public Information.

Shit, the information she's passing along is damned depressing. I wouldn't be smiling either.

5. should she not look depressing while reporting grim news?
I've always thought those anchors or who could deliver news like that, and then "put on a happy face" in the next second for a lighter piece appeared kinda monstrous.

that only women reporters seem to provoke.:eyes: Were you affected by her looks when she reported that first night from Katrina? And don't say she was on a cellphone. We all heard her describe ground zero in Katrina and we were thankful she was there to tell the truth..though it seems Bush didn't hear her reporting for days.

15. Come on now.
At least I didn't call her fat, skinny or ugly. All I said was that she was grim looking. She's not bad looking at all, imo.

And no I wasn't affected by her looks from her Katrina reporting because if I am not mistaken it wasn't her. I know who you are talking about I can't think of her name right now. She did an excellent job on Katrina.

21. I think it was her. Though I'm not good with names..perhaps not. But
when someone over the age and 40 and looking like your average woman that age shows up on the news..often people start with the insults if the reporter is not barbie cute. Just a pattern that annoys some of us.

I try myself to use the female last names..because I find myself using first names for women all the time..and last names for men. Silly me.

9. What do you want? some smiley blonde bimbo trying to make Iraq
sound better than it is? Makes me wonder what you think of 85 year old, plump Helen Thomas.

11. I'd Be Depressed, Too, If I Worked For CNN...
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but CNN has abdicated its desire to be the "most trusted name in news" in favor of FOX-style sensationalism. With that in mind, I'm glad that they have at least one normal looking female reporter on their domestic staff.

12. Man, we as humans are so petty! Check out one of the alternatives -
Carol Lin, always chirpy, always smiling....always devoid of credibility. I will take Starr any day.

I like her name too. It reminds me of those female reporters from the 50's.

The news *is* fucking depressing. You'd have to be nit-wit to get through the news with a bubbly attitude these days.

I'm glad she wasn't acting coy or pouting at the camera like most talking head model-types.
