Should the Ford CEO resign?

The tv news just said the reason for the big losses in profit are due to the costs related to restructuring. (oops)

Even if the restructuring wasn't the cause, isn't the CEO responsible for the decisions that affects the company's profits?

So, should the Ford CEO resign?

It was, IMHO, meant as a GD topic. Topical, relevant, and is it not true that CEOs make the big decisions, which is one reason they get paid the big bucks?

Also, the Ford CEO should be made to work without pay on the assembly for a year as compensation for the damage incurred due to poor decision-making. We need to send a strong message to CEOs who are wannabe robber barons. :)

Bill Ford Jr. resigned as CEO last month. They knew this was coming and the board forced him out. Alan Mulally has been on the job about a month. He was brought over from Boeing. Bill Ford remains executive chairman of the board, but is not involved in the dad-to-day running of the company.

was a tough one to learn. Ford is not in a position to compete with GM for market share any more. they need to shrink, reduce output and develop cars that people want. Ford makes a good car, but they got too caught up in competing with GM to be No. 1 that they lost sight of the consumer. Ford should align with Nissan int he deal GM was afraid to make. LEt GM and Toyota spend too much money competing and let Ford go back to making good cars. In the end, if you make a good car, people will but it. They don;t care who has cooler commercials during the superbowl. I hope Ford turns it around and starts to make good cars. Nissan can teach them a few things. My pathfinder is nearing 200,000 miles and never had anything go wrong other than scheduled work.

Likely only the stockholders get a vote on that. Ideally, he would resign or be fired, but that isn't the current trend in CEO failure.
