Latest GOP meme: "San Francisco values"
Apparently the RW kooks on the radio are accusing Nancy Pelosi of this if she becomes Speaker of the House. Heard this on Tweety just now.

9. I have lived in both SF and rural Texas
I will take the values of rural Texas every time.

That said, I still live on the Bay but I haven't set foot in SF in over two years.

I am, however, looking at the city as I type this. 6 1/2 miles across the water.

10. I'm from the East Bay hills suburbs originally
I'm a product of that region's genteel suburban liberalism.

I have also lived in Austin, TX.

5. Perhaps the Dems should jump on this
and run an ad spotlighting teachers who are successful teaching in SF's public schools, SF families who love each other, people who attend church once, sometimes twice!, a week in SF, business owners in SF who help the community -- yep, SF! -- and enjoy success. To allow San Francisco Values to become a "buzz phrase" is just sloppy on the Dem's part. They gotta throw some attention to the success of San Francisco and maybe even Speaker Pelosi's (whoops! is that too premature?) district!

7. Which is extra ridiculous if you know Nancy Pelosi...
is straight, married, religious, has FIVE children, and really didn't get into politics until later in life, until the children were older. How are those values different from the values in any other part of the country? Do they think SF is one big orgy?

8. I've been to San Francisco...
Even the homeless can get 3 squares there...

Of course, they can't sleep in the park, but, hey, I guess they can't have everything.

Peace Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is dispair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

12. I'm sick of the pukes inventing false divisions.
There are no "San Fransisco values" or "Heartland values," there are only AMERICAN values. With the Iraq debacle becoming more and more apparent the Culture Wars are the only thing the Pukes have left to turn to, and the culture wars are the result of Pukes creating false divisions and Dems taking Repuklican bait. We need to quit letting the Pukes frame the debate.

13. I've lived/worked in S.F. for 22 years. I'll tell you what our values are...
-- understanding, compassion, honesty and tolerance.

With the Repukes in charge, those values have been in short supply. No wonder they're so foreign to Americans.
