Hartmann had a great guest
There was a fantastic guest on Hartmann. The guy was called George Lakoff, he says that Bush's message works because he makes what he says common knowledge first via talking points. What this author suggests is that we need thinking points that express our vision of the liberal movement. He said that no-one is 'self-made', we all rely on one another via education, banks, fire service, and roads, so we all need one another. All social programs are important they help reduce crime, reduce prision populations, and lift people up into work which benefits all. This is a message that all progressives need to focus on in the next 2 years by going to speak at schools, setting up seminars and visiting old folks homes and making our liberal message common knowledge. The constitution a great place to start because too many Republicans are very unconcerned by the ' military commissions act', which says to me the probably don't even know what it is. The book sounds worth a look check it out...

1. The right is only able to do that via their own media infrastructure
that's what makes their message delivery so effective. We need to build our own media machine to counter it, and better inform the public.

2. A good start
A good start would be for the Democrats to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and force some of these large media companies to divest themselves of some of their radio, tv and cable companies. I realize that as long as there is a Republican president and the Dems don't have enough to override a veto this probably won't happen but at least get the idea into peoples heads. This would make a news network like FOX impossible as they would actually have to be balanced and fair instead of just saying they are.

3. go here & learn

Howard Dean embraced Lakoff's message and he has been on point ever since. Howard refuses to let others define him or the party. That not more democrats have learned this is our fault.
