How Far Can CBS Fall In 50 Years?

Walter Cronkite did a piece on NPR yesterday afternoon (10/23), reflecting on the Suez Crisis and the Hungarian Uprising of 1956. There were many soundbites from the CBS TV broadcasts, including one in which Cronkite tossed to Edward R. Murrow on the scene.

Let that sink in for a moment. Cronkite anchoring, Murrow reporting. Now flash forward fifty years and watch Perky Katie do a toothsome toss to Rush Limbaugh.

CBS News is going down so fast it makes Titanic look like a rowboat. And Les Moonves is busy drilling holes in the hull to let the water out!

1. Saw a picture of Katie on one of the magazines in the supermarket checkout

Couldn't help but wonder whether Walter Cronkite of Dan Rather would have turned up on the cover of a magazine marvelling at how good they look and how they manage to look 30 as they're turning 50. Am I ever glad I don't watch TV news!
