I have been watching the "clues" being tossed out by the administration this year, trying to predict which one represents the real October Surprise and which ones are the red herrings, and I have begun to wonder. Is the October Terra Suprise something different this time? Are we getting a tale spun by the Scheherazades of the internet? That would mean that we can have as many Terra Suprises as there are people at the Free Republic.
Here is just one example. CBS, whom the Freepers still like to think of as the parent company of Dan Rather even though Viacom sold its soul several years ago in order to escape government prosecution for the crime of controlling 40% of the nation's TV in a land where it is illegal to control more than 35%, gives us a story that is all rumor and no meat.

By Finbarr Flynn
Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The United States is tracking a North Korean ship described as suspicious by a U.S. official, Agence France-Presse reported from Washington.
The vessel left a North Korean port and may be carrying military equipment banned under UN sanctions imposed after North Korea carried out a nuclear test on Oct. 9., AFP said, citing a CBS News report.
An unidentified U.S. official told AFP the vessel was suspicious and indicated its history was the reason for the surveillance, the news agency said. AFP didn't say when the boat left port or where it was. That isn't much of a story. The backstory is that Viacom will basically do anything for the administration including media lynch its star reporter with his 80% recognizability and 80% favorability if it gets the FCC off its illegal TV market share monopolizing back. And also the backstory includes the fact that the GOP is about the lose Congress and it needs to scare the base into voting. But Bloomberg does not have to tell the savy reader that.
If this was a traditional October Suprise, the US Fleet which just happens to be parked off the coast of Iran would intercept that ship and say "Look at what we found!" However, why waste time and effort planting plutonium and nuke parts on a N. Korean ship that may not even exist when at no cost you can slip a story to Viacom and a bunch of people at the Free Republic will do your work for you?
