Katie Couric: does she read overseas reports about Iraq ?
I think I know the answer, but just confirming: Does a news anchor like Couric actually read or view overseas media reports about the Iraq war, or do they confine themselves to the usual "censored" sources ? Just wondering as I watched her tonight for the first time.

1. If so I bet she's perky when she does it
I outlasted you since I ain't watched her yet! And apparently there's a lot of others who haven't because the ratings are in the shitter. My guess is she reads what they put in front of her and they aren't gonna let her read anything the bush gang might disapprove of.

5. Your subject line is too long. It should just read:
Katie Couric: does she read?

8. my bet
I know more about world affairs and whats really going on by virtue of 2 hours per day on DU. I suspect Katie and many in her "class" are uneducated and clueless about the subject, beyond the official corporate propaganda.

I put most beltway pols in the same category. They are just so insulated from reality that they don't realize how uninformed they look to us DU'ers.

7. Reportedly she mouthed 'freedom of speech is a privilege...'
One might suspect she mindlessly spits out whatever she's paid to say (excusing nothing). OTOH, if she speaks her own independent mind, then it might not be unfitting to redirect to Couric Keith Olbermann's 9/24 question to Bush: "Are your's the actions of a true American?"

I can't stomach viewing and listening to the carbon-copy, made-up handmaidens -- male or female -- hired by the Corporate Media to control/fake/propagandize the "news" and treating it as entertainment...while an estimated 650,000 Iraqis and 3000 Americans (not incl wounded) killed in a fraud-based, likely-criminal war of aggression distract from the assault at home on America's freedoms by its "leaders" (i.e. those more or less "elected") and CM dimwits. Ugly, vulgar, ignorant, shameless "adult" CM paid propagandists ("journalists") and employers.

"To enforce the lies of the present, it is necessary to erase the truths of the past." -- George Orwell.

"Freedom of speech is a privilege" vs The U.S. First Amendment Right to Free Speech. Pitiful corporatist military-industrial-complex revisionists: Living only for power for power's sake, fearing loss of war-profits should peace ever "break out" and seeing the Constitution and Democratic institutions as "only a piece of paper" and hindrances to achieving ends by any means necessary, including torture.
