Limbaugh/Fox furor and race card slime in Tenn.: GOP exposed, with nationwide effects to come!
Their slime has so far over-reached, and has been so obviously exposed on all news venues today, that I really believe they have taken political self-immolation to a new level. It's been all over the news, and their desperation, and concomitant sleaziness has been on display for all to see. People know the Tennessee race card ad against Ford was a national GOP production. And all day on MSNBC they showed Ken Mehlman defending it, not to mention Tony Snow on Hardball joining in for a defense. Matthews was really hot about it and played a big part in the exposition of the GOP sleaziness. And obviously, Limbaugh, well-known as a semi-official GOP spokesman, really showed his ass in the worst way with his trashing of Fox.

This will have nationwide effects, reminding people at this critical juncture, how slimy the GOP is. I believe this set of circumstances will buttress the Democratic lead in these elections, and will help to head off any GOP resurgence.

4. In the case of that RNC ad... it helps Democats. Because when it's mentioned
it goes along with saying how it plays on bigotry.

5. But perhaps not anyone in TN. Someone posted earlier that
it's having an affect in TN, and not in a good way.

3. Why on earth do you think it'll have any effect?
The GOP has been successfully running on a racist platform for years. They've been aided and abetted by Democrats who look the other way (via basically the rationale: "they didn't say 'nigger' therefore it might not be racist therefore it isn't racist).

There's absolutely no reason to think that the current racist techniques, considered in themselves, won't be successful - the GOP has something like a 456-0 record with them.

8. Racist techniques (Corker, Allen) will translate into votes in TN and VA
for republicans. They know their base.

12. The fact that George Felx Allen Jr. is still in the race,
with his lifelong history of overt racism on display, is all you need to know about VA.

6. Once more, the mask has fallen off the face of the GOP
The amazingly repulsive acts that the GOP are resorting to are the last desparate gasps of a party that is collapsing under it's own filthy weight. It reminds me of Pat Robertson giving his ugly "culture war speech" at the '92 Republican Convention in Houston, when people capable of rational thought heard it and responded at the polls. I hope this disgusting act of Limbaugh's is the baseball bat catalyst that Americans seem to need to be hit over the head with to come to their senses and put these sleazy criminals out to pasture.

7. The race card has helped the GOP pull ahead in a race they were
losing.

And the media shows no shock and only reports the changed polls.

10. Harvey Gant lost to Jesse Helms in North Carolina
Because of a shameful ad the republicans put on in the last weeks of the race. It showed a white hand crumpling a piece of paper,it was supposed to be from a company turning him down for a job. A voice is saying You needed that job but because of laws someone else got it. It was about affirmative action but I don't think they ever came out & said it. Harvey was running 6 points ahead, he lost by 6 points. It was one of the saddest days in my political history, it was also the day I really started to hate republicans. These kind of things excite the haters and they know it and use it. I still have my Gant yard signs and buttons, I have never been able to part with that bit of hope.
