....for American corporations that "relocated" their principal place of business to a location outside the United States over the last 6 years to avoid paying any income taxes to the United States, let's recoup some of the costs of the benefits they enjoy for free today.
Every good or service that is sold by the 'offshore corporation' in the United States is subject to a tariff of 30%. IF they add it to the cost of the good or service sold to consumers in the US, so be it. The corporations that are located in the United States will undercut them on price, and they will find fewer purchasers of their products which will cut into their bottom line profits.
And to make it clear that we will not be defrauded out of taxes they dutifully owe, it would take one bill to clarify that owning a 'mail drop or an office with no employees' outside the United States does not qualify as a 'corporation's principal place of business' for tax purposes. The IRS would have a field day computing the back taxes, penalties, interest and interest on the penalties. The IRS would be busy they would not have time to pursue taxpayers who earn less than $30,000 per year.
Just a couple of ideas....
