Cheney Finally FINALLY Admits He Was Wrong On "Last Throes"
... now if only he would stop lying about the ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda.

Click here to read his comments yesterday to NPR's Juan Williams, and the evolution from "last throes" to now.

1. What a complete Dick
"I don't think anybody anticipated the level of violence we encountered." I couldn't read any more after he said that. All the military brass with IQ's over 70 said that this would happen if we invade and occupy with such meager troop levels. They were all marginalized and smeared.

5. it's probably just pure politics
but i'd rather have this stuff on the record -- because if/when Cheney flip flops down the road, Democrats need to be prepared.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if Democrats don't use this information. Why isn't anyone running a counter-ad showing Bush at the 2004 correspondents dinner, joking about not being able to find WMD? Why isn't anyone showing Bush saying how he wasn't "concerned" about Osama?

7. Yes
That's what I want to see--great point. If all the Dem's running just used the 2004 dinner clip, it would be a freaking landslide. It makes my blood boil thinking about it. What if the DNC got a shitload of e-mail suggesting that.

10. I think though the only thing
if I'm remembering correctly is in that footage you also see Nancy Pelosi laughing a long.

13. don't put that in the ad
even if the RNC goes out there and says, "well, democrats were laughing too" it won't have nearly the same impact as seeing our president joking when 500 soldiers were already dead.

in fact, a montage of bush in 2002 saying he wasn't concerned about Osama, and that osama had been martginalized, followed by the clip of bush joking about WMD, followed by rumsfeld saying that the war might take "five days, five weeks or five months," followed by Cheney saying the insurgency is in its "last throes" would make a heck of an ad.

too bad the DNC is hoping to win back congress by default.

14. I just e-mailed the DNC with that.
What was Pelosi's fucking problem. They would've had to drag me out of that place in cuffs.

6. I maintain this is a coordinated effort on a subtle level to change..
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 11:46 AM by Javaman
the mouth breathers minds and to catapult the propaganda.

they are preparing for a major policy change that would conflict with their standard line of bullshit.

I have been noticing lately this tactic in the news, in press briefings, in talking head pundits, on the sunday morning shows, etc.

What we are seeing is a concerted effort by these thugs to rewrite and change history so they can unfuck us from Iraq without them looking like the total tools and fools that they are.

Once moron* said that he never said "stay the course", I knew the game was on.

Pay attention to the accumulation of the sound bites that are being played out on a not to subtle basis.

They are leading up to their october surprise or november surprise or what ever the fuck it is, but it will play out very soon and I think it will be something along the lines of them announcing a limited pullout due to Iraq being able to take over some of the policing duties or something like that.

don't you all remember just last week when that fucking tool chris wallase asked asshole if Iraq was like Viet Nam and moron* responded that it was "something like Viet Nam".

We are being prepped for the most colossal propaganda double think new speak whatever you want to call it piece of revisionist history you have ever or will ever see your life or the history of this nation.

12. I agree
I do think something is going on and now Bush is saying himself apparently from what I'm reading is that he never said "cut and run" nonsense and all that so something is going to happen.

11. yes, it is
considering that cheney is still telling people that zarqawi -- who is dead -- is the missing link between Iraq and Al Qaeda.

15. The first step is admitting that you have a problem...
...and Cheney is only a few years and a few hundred thousand deaths behind the curve. Heck, by 2008, he might be calling for the need for a different approach during his own presidency.

16. by 2010 ...
when he's safely out of office, will admit the bush administration should have taken the aug. 6 pdb more seriously.

by 2012, when the Edwards/Obama ticket wins re-election on the heels of capturing Bin Laden, essentially dismantling the leadership of Al Qaeda, and successfully creating a regional effort to get 90% of our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, Cheney will admit that iraq didn't have ties to al qaeda.

by 2014, with Cheney surviving on a new heart created via embryonic stem cell research -- replacing his Grinch heart that's three sizes too small -- Cheney will admit that embyronic stem cell research is a good thing.

by 2016, when his daughter is in a gay marriage and allowed to adopt, he'll proudly hold his grandchildren and say that gay marriage isn't such a bad thing after all.

by 2018, when president Karinna Gore leads a worldwide effort to reverse the devastation of global warming, Cheney will finally admit that his administration didn't understand the problem, and too often listened to the energy industry when setting policy.

by 2020, when cars no longer run on gasoline and all the energy companies have switched to what we now know as "alternative fuel sources," Cheney will admit that he never trusted ken lay during his energy task force meetings, and that the bush administration was more interested in political favors to the energy industry than actually solving any problems.

... Rome wasn't built in a day, you know. These things take time for the truculent among us.
