Can I put Refused or Return to Sender on R campaign literature?
And if I do will it cost them? I have 4 pieces of their garbage lit that came in the mail with a first class postage stamp.

1. If they came with post-paid envelopes, mail the shit back to them.
It's their dime (or half dollar, whatever a damn stamp costs nowadays).

17. I thought that they had closed this loophole a few years back. If it
has a prepaid envelop I usually return those.

13. I'm thinking about boxing up all the Disney crap collected over the years
and mailing it back to Disney if I ever get a pre-paid envelope from Disney. This I decided after the ABC/Disney "Myth to 9/11" movie they aired.

But sending it all on to the Republicans would work too!

3. Do they have to pay the cost.
I sent back a couple of pieces after I opened them and sent nasty stuff back in their no postage envelops.

5. Well, yes and no
If it has a stamp on it then it can be delivered back to them as "refused" and you can put a note on the outside of it.

If it has a permit printed on it that is either "bulk" or "non-profit" if you put it in your mailbox as "refused" it will just go into the circular file, as it were. Bulk rates do not cover return postage but first class (stamps) do.

8. Do what I did yesterday. I got some campaign lit yesterday from
a Puke who is running for a position on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. There was a phone number on the bottom of the letter, so I called them.

Some woman answered the phone and I asked her first of all how she got my name and address. Told me from the voter registration rolls. I said that was fine, but your candidate just wasted .39 of her money because I don't vote for Republicans and even though she didn't mention in the mail piece that she is a Republican, I know from past experience she is.

The woman just mumbled something and I told her, take my name and my husband's name off your list. We're proud Democrats.

19. I would rather they send it to me.
Every piece I get, costs them something (perhaps not much, but something) and is a complete waste of resources. I love getting the Republican Campaign literature. I cut off my name and address (which goes to the shredder) and the rest goes to the recycle bin. I hope I get alot more from our esteemed Republican Campaigns and Committees. Just love it!!!!

12. Don't know about sending it back, but if there is a postage paid
envelope inside, stuff it with liberal flyers. Joe Conservative is my favorite - to remind them of all the community benefits they partake of & take for granted.

Every credit card offer I gets Joe Conservative, too.

15. careful about doing this
I remember reading that they used returned mailing as justification to either have people removed from voting roles or to challenge regisitrations at the polls.

Just put it all in the recycle bin.

careful here. I am definitely registered because I received a ballot in the mail.

Thanks for your comments.

16. Political ads are bulk mail and cannot be returned because
the sender didn't pay for that service. If they did pay for first class postage, then you can send it back.

18. I wrote "return to triangulating warmonger" on some John McCain mailing
...and my postal delivery person wrote a nice note on it saying that it can only be returned if it was first class mail. Oh well. I needed to vent.

John McCain is actually mailing "environmental defense" funding literature that addresses global warming. I did not spend a lot of time looking at it, so I don't know the length of it.

22. Mail carriers would be happy if they never had to deliver another
campaign flier. They are usually outsized, on stiff cardboard. I've gotten more paper cuts from those mailings than from normal day to day mail. You also have to stop at every house on the route. (full coverage)

Of course now I am hand delivering political fliers nearly everyday. I'm lit dropping for a couple campaigns.

23. The Tribune Chronicle told the newspaper boy to insert ads in 100 papers
They gave him 100 or 200 inserts that he was supposed to deliver with every paper. The boy just rode his bike up to the abandoned road in the neighborhood and threw them in a pile in the woods.

21. All 4 pieces have first class stamps on them.
All are addressed to me. Three are full color flyers. One is in an unopened envelope. I haven't decided what to do with them yet. Padgett, Montgomery and two locals want my vote.

24. I send their postage paid envelopes back
with a big Dem candidate sticker on the back and a "form letter" inside:

"Since I have never donated to you nor asked to be added to your junk mail list, it is a mystery why some junk mail from you recently appeared in my mailbox. Perhaps it was mis-sent. Since the Post Office seems to have made a mistake by placing it in my mailbox, I thought I'd do you a favor and return your junk mail to you."

There are also other "form letters" you can stuff inside...

29. I got some GOP trash the other day, too
A huge four-color pullout brochure that touted the virtues of someone running for some county office. I'd never heard of her and there was no party affiliation on it so I assumed she was a Democrat and I got the mailing because I'm a registered as such.

Just to check I went to her site and she's a friggin' puke...personally, I was glad to see her campaign wasting money by sending her trash to registered Democrats. To me, voting R on any office is a vote for the devil and no brochure in the world would change my mind.
