Body parts strewn all over Iraq and MSM chatters about a novel?
Good freakin` grief! Have the media lost their minds? Can`t any of them even temporarily wander into the reality zone so voters can get a fleeting glimpse of what`s really going on?

Webb`s book is fiction, just like Lynne Cheney`s. Madonna isn`t stealing babies. Tom Cruise may or may not get married in November. Michael J. Fox really does have Parkinson`s disease. Laura Bush`s approval rating is higher than her husband`s. Harold Ford really does attend church. Barney Frank is gay. Not all Italians in New Jersey belong to the Mob. There. It`s all settled. Now, could the newsreaders forget "staying the course" and broaden out into something of genuine substance?

As near as I can figure, we`ve lost 2,809 soldiers in Iraq. Thousands upon thousands are wounded, some maimed for life. Tens of thousands of Iraqis are dead and many more injured. The war is costing several billion a month. Some soldiers are on their third, fourth or fifth tours. Families are suffering. We`re all suffering. Cheney is salivating over waterboarding. Bush is straining to get some answers through his earpiece. Rumsfeldis sneering and telling us to "back off." Condi is....well....maybe shoe shopping. This madness has to stop. The Peace Fairy isn`t going to appear anytime soon, so it`s up to the citizens of this once great country.

At the moment I don`t give a sweet damn about books of fiction or whether or not Obama has enough experience to run in `08. What I care about is that we put a halt to this dangerous slide toward fascism and begin to hold the decision makers responsible for the human catastrophe in Iraq. The MSM may be having gobs of fun with their moronic R vs. D screaming matches, but I guarantee you that things would change if their kids were lying on a Baghdad street with both legs blown off. If the chattering class`s Brie-and-crackers happy hour was interrupted by a few cluster bombs, they`d be talking about a lot more than a 3-inch snowstorm or Hillary`s alleged plastic surgery. I hope the MSM bottom out before election day so we can start figuring out how to save our country before it`s too late.

3. The time for idiots to howl about the man's books should have been
while he was still a REPUBLICAN, since he wrote the danged things over the years as a Republican. Wouldn't they have been just as objectionable to them THEN as they find them now?

5. This is the whirl that we all need to weather.
Chaos in Iraq, but a different kind of chaos here at home. It all calls for a certain repose in the storm.

6. If the Press could make an actual pile of shit seem salacious
We would be getting 24 hour coverage on how shit seduces young people and corrupts family values.
