I have a plan for getting the troops out of Iraq: Put them on an Airplane
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 05:01 PM by Philosoraptor
That's right, put the soldiers on airplanes, the very vehicles that brought them there, and fly them back home.

Great plan huh? I didn't have to argue it's complexities to a republican asshole, I didn't have to weigh it down with ridiculous explanations as to why we can't possibly leave, simply put the soldiers on airplanes.

Is that so hard for the assholes to understand? What is difficult to grasp about this simple but effective plan?

Are there too few words in my plan? Does it make too much sense?

bush has his plan, and we know what it is, now you have our plan, which makes the most sense?

1. Great! I love this idea.
And if you don't mind, I might actually start using that in debates.

21. Can we get out our collaberators first though?
before we leave?

I'd hate to have another Killing Fields in my lifetime.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have worked with us over the last few years in the government, the economy, the military.

My guess is the minute we leave the Iraqi army dissolves, and within a week the guys who worked with us are having their heads sawed off on tv each night.

Before we leave can we bring these people out first?

3. McGovern said
he heard the same crap in Vietnam. We finally left, and the violence receded within weeks. Said Iraq will be more difficult, because of the different factions waring against each other. But we need to get out now.

9. Did he happen to mention how many people were killed
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 05:15 PM by hiaasenrocks
in the "weeks" before the violence receded?

I'm not making an argument about Vietnam or Iraq here. I'm simply saying that if that is all McGovern said about the violence after the US left, then he left out part of the story. Whether the policy was right or wrong, the facts are the facts.

EDIT: Part of the reason for the quick end to violence was the the North conquered the South in a relatively short period of time. It wasn't as though things just calmed down because the US left.

taken the "bureaucratese" out of it. The plan you have put forward, after it makes it through a half dozen levels of bureaucrats winds up as an eight thousand page tome costing several billions of dollars. And therein lies the problem.

13. It's amazing how complex problems can be made really simple
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 05:44 PM by Jose Diablo
"The problem is all inside your head", she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover

She said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Ooo slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways

She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Loading the soldiers on airplanes doesn't sound all that diffecult to me either.

Edit to add: The ones with the real problem would be the politicians that sent them there to begin with. They would have to explain why they sent the soldiers there and probably answer some embarasing questions about the cost, in lives and money, and of course there is the deal with the Hague. It's the politicians that need to save face, not any of us, the Americans at the bottom of the food chain.

23. Simple plan pitched by military official
<developing>
A simple plan has been pitched by a "high-ranking, well-respected military official familiar with the Iraq theater" that expands on your original idea by adding two other facets.
1. clear and control the road to the airport.
2. guard the oil near the border (from the other side of the border in Kuwait)
3. toss the keys to the Iraqis as well clear out of town.

The news is in the early stages and I'll keep trying to find the official who has pitched this idea, but the good news is that it is building momentum.
