1. Woo-hoo, woo-hoo! I called him today.
:woohoo:

I'll call his office tomorrow and thank him. Wyden is usually such a go-along-to-get-along kind of guy, this gives me hope, however small.

10. I got through right away and the staffer was very brisk.
Polite, but definitely in a hurry. I expressed my viewpoint, he asked for my zip code, and thanked me and that was it.

I was thinking about Wyden while hiking this morning, and was considering nicknaming him "Weenie Wyden" if he would not support the filibuster. Thank goodness he's been spared that devastating label. ;)

11. Wyden made a fool of himself on Roberts and got burned ...
... when Roberts voted in the minority (with Scalia and Thomas) on Oregon's 'Death with Dignity' laws. Wyden was widely reported to have been seduced by Roberts' assurances in their one-on-one interview. Trusting these two-faced, neoconservative, Federalist/Fascist Society autocrats is a repeated mistake of (so-called) Democrats.

18. That's not the only time he made a fool of himself
In November 2003, he voted FOR the Medicare bill.

Maybe this will make up for his horrendous misjudgement.

12. This is incredible news!!
I am so surprised, I really didn't think he'd go for it. Last I spoke to the staff, he was still on the fence. I am just ecstatic he came out in favor of the filibuster. I'm sending him a big fat check!! (Well not fat, slim actually, but a check all the same)

:woohoo:

13. Here's the source for Senator Reid's offering no support for filibuster
Some other Democrats however, like Louisianna's Mary Landrieu, said they are worried that the move would be "very counterproductive" and could backfire. Most notably, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada offered no support for the attempt to keep Alito off the high court.

"There's been adequate time for people to debate," Reid said.

Senior White House officials said a filibuster attempt makes the Democrats look bad, and claimed Republicans already have the 60 needed votes to overcome any such attempt.

So, now we know this report is in the mainstream, but is it true?

21. He did say that.
I saw him say it right on the SPAN. I almost choked. I don't know about anything else, though.

20. Great news! Now we can get to work on a "no" from Smith
Now Gordo is a long shot, but reminding him that the last "moderate" bush nominee just tried to burn Oregon on our voter-approved death w/dignity laws might count for something.

23. I just called Wyden's office to thank him for supporting the filibuster.
"Please hold as we are experiencing a heavy volume of calls." :)

I didn't have to wait long and the staffer seemed very pleased to take my message.
