Poll question: Are you going to stay up all night and wait for election results Tuesday?
After the polls close Tuesday night...

Are you going to stay up all night and wait for election results?

Or will you go to bed early and hope for good news Wednesday morning?

5. Luckily, here on the West Coast, it doesn't go too late
Election coverage starts at 4:00 PM with early results a little after 5:00. Most of the action in the House flip will occur in the Eastern & Midwest time zones. I do anticipate several races to be still undecided well into Wednesday or beyond.

6. Going to a DU meetup- Durham, NC to watch the returns roll in
If you're reading this and are within driving distance of Durham, and don't know about the meetup, head on over to the NC forum- we've got a room reserved at a restaurant/bar... and much fun will be had!

9. I don't think it will be over
These monsters won't go away with diginity. I'm expecting a lot of challenges. That's why MSM is covering the e-voting issue. I don't expect Rove & his gang to concede gracefully. I think it will be maybe weeks before we know. There will probably be court cases, recounts, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see this go on until January.

The thing to focus on will be what are they going to push through in their last weeks in control. It will be get while the getting is good.

17. It's very frustrating for me because
when the polls close on the east coast in America, it's midnight in the UK. It's a long, long night of watching CNN International coverage.

I remember in 2004 lying on the sofa watching the early returns come in and feeling pretty comfortable that things were looking good for John Kerry, then I dozed off for a while and when I woke up the Idiot Son was winning. I was shocked and horrified and actually blamed myself for falling asleep (as if that was the reason for the change in the results).

I've got a good supply of espresso in now and plan to be tanked up on caffeine all night next Tuesday.

19. Staying up will do no good, but I'm afraid to sleep.
The last two times I stayed up during a tense situation were Katrina and the '04 election. Both times I went to bed thinking that disaster was averted, but then woke up to... well, you know.

::sigh::

22. staying up all night like I have every election since 1960
or at least until it is decided.

My extended family got together for the world series and elections. There would alway be a huge family party, all generations, tons of talking, drinking and food. (sigh, thems were the days)

I'm so lucky, there was MUCH more contention over the world series (back then it seems it was always the Yankees against some other team). We were all democrats. (We almost always backed whichever team was going against the Yankees too. Underdog syndrome.)

and that everything is being closed down and taken back properly.

In 2004, last person was 1250 AM, machines down and out around 0145 hours....home by 0215 AM

I expect it will be worse this time.

The life of a poll watcher....standing in the rain too most likely.

Crying because of the horrid and blatant disenfranchisement.

Seething with rage as well.

Were you in a very overcrowded/underprepared district?

28. I was in a building that USED to have one precinct vote
then they combined it with a large ethnic precinct, and cut the machines in half.

The last person in line at 7:30 PM voted at 0050 hours. The building is so small, outside of the poll workers, only room for about 20 other people at a time. It was raining and cold, and most waited outside.

Was the precinct unprepared? No....was everything about it devised to deny people the right to vote? Absodamnlutely.

My story is out there, and on an affidavit.

Ohio - Franklin County.

30. I am having a party
About 15 people slated to show (I have a 650-sq-ft apartment!).

I have weird hours, work 5-9am and 1-5pm, so I am going to go to sleep at like 7pm Monday night, then take a four-hour nap Tuesday morning, then stay up all night. I mean, I have to get up at like 4, anyway!

In 2004 I was in the UK, and I camped out on our downstairs sofa much to the confusion/consternation of by British ex, and dozed in and out of sleep, shocked and horrified at what I heard, as a nightmare.

This time WILL be different.

I mean, I've got friends - and beer.

33. HELL NO! I did that in 2000...
I had just started college, and decided to stay up until there was a president.

I stayed awake for THREE DAYS, which is apparently almost deadly. So I've learned my lesson, and I'll read the news Wednesday morning.
