1. Link Doesn't Work, And Don't Believe Everything You Read
Spin can be deadly. Just because a Dem says they won't support a filibuster, doesn't necessarily mean the will voter FOR cloture.

8. I was trying to make a humorous comment....
tieing in a reference to the title of a currently popular movie.

Instead of "broken" I used "brokeback" It was a play on words that apparently didn't rise to the level of humorous.

It was funny and ingenious in my mind when I thought of it. Obviously it loses something in the translation.

5. Don't buy into it! Keep pushing the line!
They WANT us to believe it is over and we will give up, being made to look like quitters. Don't give in or give up.

RAGE against the loss of this nation!

6. not over but...
If alito does not get appointed the president will just appoint someone else that is the same or even worse. I dont know about you all, but I think every friend of the presidents may be a enemy of mine :) LOL

9. Historically
when someone is rejected, someone more moderate is then nominated. Of course this administration may very well break precedent.

11. Welcome fairandunbalanced
Tricky name.

A rightwing female Might be an improvement?

bush's arrogance with his nominations for justices is a poke in the eye of the Dems. Alito, bobble head, is over the top.

12. Welcome to DU, fairandunbalanced.....
:hi:

If we can knock off Alito, we can knock off anyone worse. If we can't knock off Alito, it won't matter. We are so screwed. Alito and his rulings "legitimize" the neo-con vision and a christian taliban.

If his appointment happens because there was no fight in the senate, the fight has to be joined elsewhere. And yes, the chimp is the enemy of our democracy.

10. I just called Harry Ried's office
and told them that if he can't hold 41 Dems together for a filibuster it is time for him to step down and minority leader that he apparently is incapable of leading this party where it needs to go.

I don't know what it will take for me to finally give up there have been so many battles over the past five years and SO MANY times my heart has been broken - I don't think I can take much more....

sorry for being down at this moment I can't help it - but I will keep calling........

15. This is Harry Reid's moment of truth
You are right, get those Dems playing it "safe" (?) to quit lying to themselves about this nomination. If Alito's writings don't stand for something what does? First he will do away with the Congress, exaggeration but close, then all social issues! As Norquist stated, reduce social security until you can float it in the bathtub (or something to that effect). Ugh

16. Here you go
"My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years," he says, "to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."
