There is a confluence of factors swirling about here. I predict that Dems take the House and Senate, and that many of the wins will be by bigger margins than the polls are predicting.
I agree with you about the Republicans being unmotivated. Many of the neocons, the Reagan Conservatives and the Evangelicals are ticked off and unenthusiastic about voting for Republicans this time. This will translate into very low Rep turnout.
The Dems are WAY motivated. Many are running to the polls, simply to cast opinions against the war and against BushCo. This will translate into very high voting numbers for Dems.
Furthermore, many are predicting significant Dem wins. I think many Reps--some of whom are unmotivated as it is---are convinced that the Dems are going to win anyway. This will cause more Reps to stay home.
Also, most polls are trending toward Dems. As people firm up their votes, they are deciding Dem more than they are deciding Rep. Many polls reflect this--and this is awesome news.
I truly believe that we will have the House and Senate--and that Dems will handily win many races that are tight.
It's party time. Italian style.
