BEWARE of concern trolls on DU trying to discourage you from voting
You know the type:
"There's nothing we can do!"
"The fix is in!
"I'm so discouraged!"
"They're going to steal this election!"
There is a difference between posters who encourage people to be vigilant and aware about possible election fraud, and those who are trying to make you believe the "sky is falling!"
Nothing is beneath these Republican activists; but why empower them?
we've got our paper ballots all ready and i'm dropping them off at the polling station tomorrow. i wanted to wait till tomorrow to mitigate them getting "lost". a thom hartmann suggestion, so what the heck. but they're ready to go - straight dem ticket!
7. Can we just say what we want to say without all the troll paranoia?
Yes, the negative sentiment is counterproductive and obnoxious. But I imagine a lot of it is genuinely pathological and not necessarily trolling. The Internet seems to attract people who wallow and whine and never do shit about getting what they want, plus have a distorted negative view of things; that's a problem we need to own and deal with and no one suffering it is going to be convinced their a troll seeing as they're the first to know they aren't. I feel accusing people of trolling is just another form of not taking responsibility as well.
So you can't actually point to anyone who is saying If you can't link one, where do you get off making this out like there's literally hundreds of people here actively trying to make Dems stay home on Tuesday.
And I'm liking the new meme that anyone who isn't rampantly optimistic or suggest that the election could be a foregone conclusion before Tuesday is automatically a "Republican activist". Nice.
