Remember Rove bragging about having a "surprise" 72-hour push right before the election? Well, last week, NH voters were getting very irritated about getting pre-recorded political calls for Republican candidates. These people were on the National No-Call list, and the law prohibits that kind of thing in NH. Republicans were very stubborn about it, claiming that since these were federal elections, they would go ahead and do it. Yesterday, they decided to "voluntarily" stop doing it. What most of us didn't know until today was that these automated calls began with a message that made it sound like a call from a Democratic candidate. (In NH, the message began "Let me tell you about Paul Hodes" (Dem. candidate) The automatic messages were scheduled to call the same people, over and over again, even in the middle of the night, to make the voter irritated and angry, making him/her less likely to vote for that candidate.
I have a feeling I didn't explain that very well, so here's
the story from a NH blog
