OK WHY is Pelosi so scary to the Reps?
Forgive my cluelessness here but I tend not to really think too much about Rep propaganda since I'm in the "reality based community".

However on another forum (non-political focus) where I post a couple of the right wingers keep bringing her up as a reason not to vote Dem tomorrow.

Now I'm in no danger of not voting Dem but some people are of course and oft-repeated memes have frustratingly large amounts of influence.

So does anyone know WHY Pelosi is used as such a boogeyman and why she works apparently well enough as one to get so much repetition in their screed??

I mean setting aside guesses about misogyny and "loony SF liberal" and all that, does anyone who has more patience than I with dittohead propaganda know exactly what it is that bothers them so much? Has she proposed any particularly progressive legislation or espoused an especially far-left world view?

(I especially like the idea of her spotting them with all the gay hookers in SF)

Perhaps I'm giving the spin-machine too much credit, but usually there's at least SOME twisted misinterpreted and poorly rationalized reason given for their demonizing. Y'know like Hilary will give us "socialized medicine", and Kerry will have us bow and scrape to the French. I mean there's usually SOME tiny little nugget of actual meaning around which the pearl of vitriol coalesces. Just buggered if I can think what it is in Pelosi's case.

They really are getting bold (or desperate) if they're willing to base a major capmaign meme on the specific fear of an individual without any real basis for differentiating that individual though.

Strong women, don't accept everything they are told without doublechecking the facts, don't back down from a man when they believe they are right.

Many men are only comfortable with a woman who follows their every word, asks their opinion and lets them make all the decisions without argument. Women who boost their egos, whether they believe what they are saying or not, bring out the macho in them and they feel powerful.

Although some women can live with that situation, most prefer to share their marriages or relationships on an equal basis. That way, both sides can grow and feel good about themselves.

Power!!! JMVHO

Condie is in love. You can see it in her eyes.

I wouldn't call her a strong woman. I don't think she is saying what she really believes in these negotiations. I think she is the messenger...probably the only one who will carry out the delivery of such messages. In several ways, I can even muster up a little sympathy for her. She's GW's lapdog.

28. Because...
If the Dems win The House, she becomes The Leader of The House, The Speaker. She will then have their balls in the palm of her hand, after many years of egregious misuse of rules and process by the repukes. They know she has the power to send them to the farthest pits of congressional hell. She would also have the power to start the unraveling of their malign works.

That is scary to them, because may, if not most of them, have never known a time when they weren't in control and arrogance was the order of the day.

But they might be making a mistake by thinking that she would lead like they have led.

I kinda hope she does, at least for a while. After all, exacting revenge is not a new or revolutionary concept in politics.

They are sheep. They thought Tom Daschle was Che Guevarra, for crying out loud. They think the media is liberal. They're idiots and they've never *seen* a real liberal politician, let alone a liberal media.

If they could trade places with people like us for a day; if the ideological opposites of Denny Hastert, Tom Delay, Dick Cheney, and GW Bush were running this country, and the the ideological opposites of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly filled the airwaves... they'd choke on something and die.

46. This IS exactly *it*.
They are sheep, nothing more. They have been told to hate Pelosi - so they will. They have been told Dems are evil and will destroy the country and will invite the terrorists in, and they believe it with all of what's left of their cowardly hearts. And they also would rather die than be wrong, so they refuse to entertain any information that might challenge what is burned into their brains. Anything that doesn't come from Fox or Rush or church or a Republican is 'liberal propaganda'. They have no critical thinking skills, and so are scared of Pelosi - because they have been told she is scary.
That about sums it up.

and they fear retribution for all the cruel, cheap, sadistic things they've done to their mothers, sisters, wives, ex-wives, girlfriends, and all women of any authority. They think she will turn into Phyllis Schlafly, except she won't be supporting them.

It is a real and valid fear. They aren't going to like being pushed out and punished, as much as they deserve it.
