Tomorrow, in the churches - people are going to be told to call
their Senators and support Alito. On Monday, progress that was made this weekend is going to get countermanded as the other side weighs in. On Monday, we need to be even more vocal than we have been to make sure this country doesn't get handed over to the wingnuts.

1. I will be sure to listen carefully in church tomorrow morning.
Three weeks ago, our pastor said something about how Bush was just spying on us to protect us. Yes, I am looking for a new church just as soon as my daughter is confirmed and graduates at the end of this school year! Ugh.

12. Do They Tape Their Services???

If they do then get a copy and send it to the IRS.......That is if he said this during the service itself.

13. Yes they do tape them.
It just takes a few weeks before they put the tapes out in the narthex. I am watching and waiting for that tape. I will send it as soon as I get it. What a bunch of bull.

19. IF I went to church and heard some RW political call to action brought up
I wouldn't hesitate to stand up right in the middle of the whole thing and start to argue with the asshole that was spouting it.

Probably why I don't go to church.

2. Report every church to the IRS
and file complaints that they are practicing partisan politics.
Every last one of these churches should lose its tax exemption.

When I think of how careful my UU church is to avoid partisan politics, while these robots go full speed ahead for the rethugs, it makes my blood boil.

18. HUH?
When did Hillary and others "demagogue" in churches?

Also, from dictionary.com:

Usage Note: Among the nouns that the Usage Panel is loath to see used as a verb is demagogue, meaning “to speak about something in the manner of a demagogue.” Ninety-four percent reject it in the sentence The President will demagogue Medicare, unwilling to acknowledge that fundamental reforms need to be made. Resistance to the use of traditional nouns as verbs is sometimes strong, especially when the novel usages are associated with business or bureaucratic jargon.

5. But, by God, don't let those same churches mention
Christ as the Prince of Peace, the IRS will be breathing down their backs wanting to take away their tax exempt status for being political.

6. Leaflet the church parking lots with the truth
Print the editorials that have told the truth and place them under the wipers of the people in those churches tomorrow. We know which churches will be involved ... all the ones that took part in justice sunday programs. Counter propoganda with the truth, make them think!

8. Many churches record their own services for homebound parishioners -
- so one might be available that way. However, I believe that the "separation" law applies only when a church promotes one candidate over another. The church may speak to current events and politics when not involving a public election.

9. Ah...I think you're right...
However, this is an election year and one could argue that anything that is said in church RE: politics can be considered pro/con a candidate...

And, I will call anywhere
