Something is going on in VA.
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:18 PM by atfqn
I have been glued to VA's election website all day. Most of the day it has said that 99.88% of the precincts had voted. Five minutes ago it changed to 94.57%. Anyone have any ideas about this?

2. They opened up precincts to count the conditional ballots.
It should increase Webb's lead since most of the conditional ballots are in Dem areas.

Then you need to click on the individual precincts.

13. Added Conditional Votes Precincts for every Central Absentee Precinct
(copied from another thread)
It appears Virginia is attempting to count the Conditional Votes by adding one Conditional Precinct for every Central Absentee Precinct (see example from Fairfax County below). This increased the number of precincts from 2411 to 2599.

Office: U.S. Senate
Precincts Reporting: 2458 of 2599 (94.57%)
Registered Voters: 4,555,533 Total Voting: 2,368,700 Voter Turnout: 52.00 %
Candidates Party Vote Totals Percentage
J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,173,732 49.55%
G F Allen Republican 1,166,382 49.24%
G G Parker Independent Green 26,225 1.11%
Write Ins 2,361 0.10%
View Results by District Locality Total: 2,368,700

FAIRFAX COUNTY - U.S. Senate
Precinct Name (code) G F Allen
(R) J H Webb Jr
(D) G G Parker

Central Absentee Precinct ( C008) 2,433

The numbers for Webb went from 1,172,913 to 1,172,805 with 99.88% reporting. Now this. You're right. Something stinks.

5. The Democrats need to get on top of this (and Montana) ... NOW!
They're trying to steal it. The Dems should get on television immediately and start talking about it.

7. They have!
They have said both states are a done deal (pretty much).

We won them both. The pukes don't have the votes.

That is true, and thats what the dems are saying.

Its time for the pukes to concede.

Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:12 PM by BattyDem
We've seen the GOP pull some nasty stunts in the past, so we're all a little on edge over this. There's a lot at stake and we'll all feel MUCH better when it's officially called for Webb. :-)

On edit: I don't want to fight with my fellow DUers. I just want this to be over. :silly:

9. No One Is Trying To Steal Anything. Calm Down.
They just added additional fake precincts for the provisionals. This means absolutely nothing. Take a chill pill.

19. I Don't Trust Them Either.
But that doesn't mean there wasn't a perfectly rational explanation for the precinct jump. This was a non event, and I just wanted to make that clear.

We all need to just hang in there. Everything will turn out fine.

25. Nobody trusts them
Which is why the Webb campaign is watching this like hawks.

Both sides have observers all over the state wherever counting is taking place. If anyone tried any sort of BS, they'd be on it.

These are the provisional ballots. I would not be a bit surprised if Webb ends up with a bigger lead when this is over, what with the RNC/NRSC/Felix campaign's voter suppression tactics.

Things change as they count precincts, counts, ballots, and stuff.

Nothing sinister here... at least not yet.

...But I don't know what's going on. Stealing the election sounds like something Howdy Doody George Allen would do.

The local news just came on. They said that Webb still has a lead. Is this still true?

26. Good grief
A Dem Gov, a Dem SOS, and this has been explained on several threads.

Webb has WON. VA election officials said as much on national TV today. FElix, etc. are not in charge of this, there are no hanging chads, etc. Webb will be certified.

ENJOY the victory and quit letting certain people try to take away the sweetness of victory. They are spoilers on DU right now.

be reversed to 400 for Webb and 1600 for Allen and thereby move Webb down from a lead in the mid 7000's to under 5000?

A reporter on CNN just made that comment.
