Bush sounded decent in his speech today...

then at the end he blathered on about immigration and "temporarily" bringing in people who will "do jobs Americans won't".

Uh, what jobs won't we do? Jobs that don't begin to pay a living wage because most people on their own don't have enough hours or job opportunities in a day to work them? Immigrants who come in with their families CAN do this because they all pool their resources. Most Americans, especially single ones, cannot.

And which jobs won't we do? Such as manufacturing, programming, and support of technology systems? :eyes:

Democrats know how to be sensible with defense -- and offense. I don't foresee a quick fall out from Iraq. There is no 'cut and run' here either. What is lunacy is 6 years of massive spending and massive tax cuts. It is not 'liberal' to demand a balanced budget while making sure we allow our youths to learn what's necessary to continue the tradition of prospering. It's conservative to do so.

And back to immigrants, why "temporarily"? Do we not wish to improve America? So why not permanently?

1. He also said he will continue to do what HE thinks is right.
He only sounded "decent" because he's backed into a corner; just words. He fancies himself The Dictator, and won't let it go very easily.

2. No argument from me.
Bush has to prove himself here.

As with "no draft while I am president", he now has a second claim of which to keep. It's not going to be easy, and I hope in 2008 people don't forget the reasons for yesterday's huge turnout and turnover of the poptarts.

5. When did he sound "decent"?
I laughed and jaw-dropped through the whole thing. He was pissed, then tried to be funny, then got flustered, then just fell apart.

That's how I saw it.

7. My family came from farmers living in Vietnam before the war ended
We're used to working out in the fields, but we won't work for you if you own the land yet pay slave wages and treat us like crap. No thanks.

We're more likely to rebel, take your land, and keep the fruits of our own labor instead for treating us so poorly.

Maybe if you paid better wages and treat workers better, me and countless other Americans will pick your grapes for your wineries in Napa Valley, but until then, my message is simple to all those employers who use illegal aliens: Don't expect sympathy from us when you bitch and wine about no workers willing to work your fields or your business. You know damn well why they won't.
